  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone recieved the microMatteBox for Red One?

I ordered (july 19th) and got the 4 step email and currently payment shows having been received (step 2)...seems pretty clear so far. I am guessing a couple of weeks before I get one. Look forward to it Brian, have a great trip!
 
My Mattbox has just arrived here on the Island of the Gods ( Bali ).
Ordered in November, paid end of NAB.
Seems all in order on first assembly.
There is some play in the swing away lock.. reminds me of some of the early ARRI 6x6 Mattboxes whereby a piece of gaffer tape was required from Mattbox left to the camera body to keep it tight. Not to bad though.
Thanks to Brian and Co.. exceptional value given the price point.
 
i did get my mattebox two days ago, i didnt used it.
i am disapointed from the quality, missing screws, seeing from one side to the other side, the weight of the compendium forces the arm down...etc.

Brian, can i have a replacement (i dont want one if all of them are like this), or my money back?

I cant use the MB that i have here in my hands in a shooting.

Brian, I just wanted to say thanks for Redrock's decision to make the shipping foam fit a standard size Pelican case. That is a very classy touch. Any other company I have bought from would have sent the product in such a way that made the packing useless for transfer into a permanent case. You guys are going out of your way to take care of your customers. It is much appreciated.

Oh dear. I've sent three e-mails, two to these addresses, and have not received any response, even though I paid for the mattebox and a filter set awhile back and was a reservation holder. Now what?

I have already started moving things around. Since my FF is made for 15mm rods and the 8" long rods I was using were too long to fit with the MB in place, I swapped them with the rods on the swing away hinge assembly. That will work until I get the 3" 15mm rods I ordered from ET.

Also, I know the instructions say to slip the donut over the end of your lens then tuck it into the MB, but I find it works better with some of my lenses to just butt the lens up against the back of the donut. The donut had a tendency to be pretty loose in the slot that way. I discovered that if I install the 4" donut into the MB then add the donut with the proper size hole behind it (on the lens side of the MB) all the looseness is eliminated.

To be honest, I wasn't too sure of the donut system, but the more I work with it, the more it is growing on me. It just may work out after all.

...I had a reservation made with one email address and ordered with another. Brian helped out and fixed the discrepancy. Well worth the money and the wait.

Same case here. So I sent orderstatus@redrockmicro.com a detailed history of how I made the reservation with one email address and ordered with another, my paypal ID, order No., Sales No... in short, I now have my beautiful mattebox.

ugh, after reserving last year, paying 110 days ago, still no mattebox. I talked to Brian about it and they lost my reservation until I forwarded my email confirmation from them (which was NOT from a different email address). After discovering my reservation and correcting the error, I was told it should ship the 8th, then the 9th, then yesterday, then today, now they say late next week.

wtf?
 
I just got my mattebox from EVS and I think its cool and all. But when I have it all setup with the 18-50mm Red lens I can see the mattebox at 18mm. Maybe that's how most matteboxes work. Even though I don't remember seeing that when I had an MB20 hooked up to it. The only way I can get the mattebox out of the frame completely is to have way up on the lens. And when I mean completely I mean out of the 4.5K area as well. Plus the donuts that come with the mattebox don't seem to fit the Red lens.
 
Got ours on tuesday the 12th. Paid for it on April 22. Great piece of kit.
There are a few small issues with it like a missing screw and a screw that is too small to lock in the side flag. Easy work arounds for the price. The donuts that we got seem to fit it just fine. No light leak at all.
 
So, are the matte boxes still shipping? Has the first run been depleted. I ordered mine the first week of May. Anyone else who ordered around then heard anything?
 
I ordered mine may 6 - just got a response to my email to the order status address saying that mine would ship in around 2 weeks.
