  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Has anyone recieved the microMatteBox for Red One?

haskell: yes, you can attach arri bellows. Just to be clear you don't screw on the bellows, you attach with the two thumbscrews provided on the bellows unit

Hey, Brian, thanks for checking in. Do you think I'll get my MMB sometime next week? I'm a regular (non-Gold ticket) reservation holder. Still no tracking number or nothing. I'm afraid my order fell through the cracks. Any way to tell what the status is on an order?

I would be curious as well. Although, I keep getting the updated emails so I assume my order is in the system?

What thumbscrews? Are you talking about a part for the MB-20 System 1 or System 2? There are no thumbscrews on an Arri bellows back. Or a Chrosziel (almost the same size). As I've said, someone bring me a mattebox and I'll see what fits.
 
My RR matttebox is here. Don't have time to play with it now, but it all looks real nice -- pretty much the same as what was shown at NAB. I probably won't get around to setting it up until tomorrow sometime.
 
I just received my Mattebox and have just finished assembling it. Looks nice.

Side wings don't fit in the slots. Just got it to fit.

Top wing also doesn't sit flush with the side wings. That's OK.

Over-all, I'm happy with my purchase. If anyone wants to see pics I'll post in this thread in a couple hours.
 
Gah! Everybody is getting theirs and I still don't even have the FedEx tracking number. And I'm a gold ticket holder and they told me it would ship on Monday... *grr*

Maybe he meant there were thumbscrews with the RR matte box. There aren't any thumbscrews for any bellows units I know of. I hope Brian understands what a bellows is. Mitch, i should be able to meet up with rockobolm and try out both the Arri and Chrosziel bellows units.

Is that a support bracket for the lens or for the matte box.? The one showing with the blue screws.
 
I was hoping that wasn't the matte box bracket. Why is it so far back? Have you tried that matte box with a set of primes and a follow focus? It looks like it would be right in the way of a FF on a lot of lenses, especially zeiss standards and super speeds. Is this setup different than the 15mm one?

Same issue here...note that in my photo I posted the wings are not in the slots. Finally worked them in and now they fit great, but a bit of the finish came off.

What numbers do you all have? Are you the gold ticket holders or advance reservation slot?

Have any of you got the RED bundle yet?

Mine is the red bundle. I was a reservation holder - a pretty early reservation, I think, but not golden ticket holder.

I will be testing mine with some superspeeds this coming week. I still haven't actually set mine up, perhaps this afternoon.

The bracket attaches to a pair of rods on the side of the mattebox, which allows a few inches of front/back travel. It looks to be set nearly all the way back. Given the design's origins, I would think that the rod bracket would line up just under the back of the mattebox.

I hate to tell you, but they are still really behind on shipping. Just talked with Brian and mine isn't supposed to ship out until between Tues-Fri of next week:( Frustrating, but it is still 5x cheaper than an Arri...(that's what I keep consoling myself with.)
