  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Half a Pound.....

WOW!!! :) Thank you for being so awesome RED!

saving 1/2 a pound on the weight of the EPIC brain.

Love it.

That is saving 1 pound on a 3D rig - and every pound we can shave for steadicam in 3D is significant.

My physiotherapist (aka the wife) thanks you! Awesome news :-)

That is absolutely incredible...I am in awe of your research, design and engineering teams! You guys are really pushing your own envelope...

You guys just keep on amazing us....don't stop

Thanks you

We are known for giving you guys more for nothing.. this time we are taking away.

New technology has afforded us the ability to move to a new heatsink that has the same thermal characteristics in a much lighter package.. saving 1/2 a pound on the weight of the EPIC brain.

These new heatsinks will go into all EPIC-X cameras... and EPIC-M customers will have theirs upgraded, for no charge, when they send the cameras in for the mechanical modifications after the EPIC-X program begins.

old vs. new:

AWESOME AWESOME, RED IS SUCH A GREAT COMPANY!

I'm guessing that the aforementioned additional mounting points are on the top of the camera, which would explain why the top is facing away in this pic, and would go hand-in-hand with a redesigned heatsink. Hopefully the new mounting points eliminate the need for a top plate... That would be awesome.

Sweeet!

Jim, Jarred, Deanan, Matt, nate, Brent et al...

Back in the day, Panavision invented the panaflex which allowed Vilmos Zsigmund to shoot in a confined space on the floor of the backseat in "Sugarland Express" for Spielberg.

This changed the way Hollywood films were made... Simple fact...

Now with the Epic I feel you have achieved a similar transformation. Quality of 35mm (even 65mm) in a Hasselblad size package. Arnold & Richter, Bob Gottchalk and now you guys.....

Thanks for helping us begin the next "nouveau vague"....

Collister
