  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

GROUP BUY: Hive 200-C

Hey guys,

Still very interested in a few of these, but want to figure out the accessories needed and total costs first. I'd rather not read through 8 pages to get info, so apologies if this has already been answered. It's not in the first post though -- could you please add this info up there?

• Do we have to pay for shipping from the Able locations? If so, is there a flat-rate for USA / Canada? I'm assuming pickup option is free?

• Can you please list all of the available accessories, and their price after the 10% discount?

Thanks!

Okay very reasonable question let me do my best here to keep it simple!

Shipping: Pick up is free from any Abel location, but shipping will have to be handled directly with Abel and I assume will be based on number of units and your location, I will try to get a more complete answer but I assume standard shipping rates will apply.

Getting crazy excited to get my hornet!!

Thinking through power, how could I get this kit working with my hornet? https://www.filmandvideolighting.com/kino-flo-block-battery-system-2-batteries-charger-sys-bk12.html
It's 28.8 v so power seems right (provided it can handle the amp throughput which I assume it can), but it's 3pin, do I just need some simple 3 pin to 4 pin adapter?

Assuming it can handle the amps hard to tell without specs on battery, the adapter cable should be all you need, just be sure that the XLR pin wiring is pin 1 (-) DCV In and pin 4 (+) DCV In.

According to B&H, the power is "140 Wh or 5.0 amp hours @ 28 VDC", is that good to power the hornet?

Thank you for coordinating this. I'm hoping to add my name to the list, too, if I can find out the shipping and sales tax info; would it be possible to send the contact info for the rep you're working with at Abel? I want to ask if I can apply my Texas state sales tax exemption to the purchase (in Texas, there's no sales tax on equipment purchased for motion picture production). Cheers!

Extremely helpful, thanks!

If I pickup in NYC, but I'm a Canadian (I'll be in town for the next 3 weeks... fringe case, I know) would I be charged sales tax? I guess the broader question is: are pickups subject to sales tax?

Other question: what about the soft boxes? Do you have first-party soft boxes, and what mount (if any) would be needed for them? I'm interested in the lantern and some sort of large octabox or large box good for interviews.

Thanks!

We work directly with Chimera to pair soft boxes with the Hornet 200-C for what you are describing I would recommend

Lantern:

4pt Speedring and our Pancake or Lantern softboxes.

Octobox:

I would use our 8pt speedring with our 3' Octagonal Softbox or the 24" Beauty Dish with the front diffusion in, and the target removed.

Jon,

Thanks for sharing.

At 04:10, it is mentioned that accessing the effects via phone requires an upgrade.

Just to be clear, does this refer to all remote control via phone or only the effects?

Hi Brian,

Good question, to clarify, the App with our basic SHOT (Sat, Hue, Output, CCT) controls is free to download and use. The effects are also pre loaded into the Hornet 200-C and are free to use in local control. The effects in the App are "Freemium" each effect is $1.99 to unlock, or you can buy all the effects and RGB sliders for $19.99. Again this is only to access the effects in the app for remote control.

Jon

Tried to add mine but for some reason can't see my name.

Put me down for 2 plus all possible accessories.

One more to verify that my brain is understanding; does the terminology "Local Control" include operations / addressing using DMX?
