Group Buy - Formatt-Hitech Firecrest ND Filters

Thanks guys. Great to hear the positive feedback. It was indeed a good chunk of effort to make it all happen by everybody involved.

Happy shooting. Treat your filters well and they'll last you a lifetime.

Thanks Phil, Got mine today. You really kicked ass with this one, I really appreciate it.

Do these filters come with any sort of pouch? Cheers

Damn, I missed this one :(

Hey guys, Just got word from Hotrod that Formatt messed up a batch of linear polas. It was really weird when mine polarized in the vertical position, so when I asked about it they had no idea it was faulty. anyhow keep an eye out if you ordered one, they will replace it for you with no questions.

On the other end, the quality of these filters are second to none, really happy with how they look and feel.

Message from Hotrodcameras: "just received word that your order will ship next week. It will ship via the EU post office so there will not be a tracking number. If you don't receive your package in a reasonable amount of time, please let me know and I will try to confirm the shipping date." Anyone else from EU got this info with no tracking on shipment?

Just got mine delivered today! Thanks again for the group buy.

Quick question: I have some older Firecrest filters that are labeled as "Firecrest IRND", but the new ones seem to have dropped the IR from the labeling. The site still says "These glass filters are hyper-neutral across the visible light spectrum and also remove more IR contamination than any other filter - making them IRND filters." So I assume they just changed the way they are labeling them.

More or less correct. There was also a slight update to the coating as I understand, very slight. I'll do an A/B at some point because I'm kind of curious.

Interesting. Oh well, my new ones are .3, .6, and .9, my older ones are a 1.8 and grad .9 that I don't anticipate using nearly as much as the new ones. I was using the 1.8 on my A7S (native Slog ISO of 3200! absolutely bonkers)

Thanks for the response, Phil!

I just got a similar e-mail from Hotrod Cameras, saying that all international orders will begin shipping from Formatt in the UK next week.

When I've bought filters directly from Formatt before they've sent them via their Royal Mail international post, with no tracking number. At that time they said they would take 5-7 working days for them to arrive here in Australia, and I got them two weeks later. So I imagine your current group buy order should arrive within a week or two from some time next week.

Seems bold to ship out without tracking? In case the package doesn't show up, will the ship a new set? With a 40€ shipping fee there should be room for using another service than normal post.

Interesting questions. You'd have to ask Hotrod Cameras or Formatt about it.

Being in the UK, I imagine when Formatt sends their parcels out they'll be delivered via the Royal Mail postal service.

Here's a list of their services - http://www.royalmail.com/personal/international-delivery

My guess is they'd be using the International Standard service, as that's the one that doesn't offer tracking but which goes to all destinations within a reasonable time-frame.

Can't see any information on the Formatt website about what their usual delivery methods/options are.

The last filters I purchased from Formatt had no tracking but arrived to Aust within 10 days.

Though, with that method, it's hard to know where it goes missing if there's a problem. I guess they must calculate the risks and decide if it's must pretty low it must not be worth the extra expense.

Phil, can you put me down for 77mm and 82mm ND .6, 1.2, and 2.1 in each size.
Do they sell Series 9's?

Outside of supervising the results (making sure peeps get their orders) of this Group Buy, it's done.
