Hey all.

So I just spoke with Pete from Vision Smith to see if he was open to a group buy if there was enough interest & it turns out he is. He would need 50 orders of one particular lamp to be open to the group buy so please reply if you're interested & what size lamp you're interested in. Here's the information on the re-lamp.

* Pete informed me that all of the Re-Lamps have been been upgraded to "WORLD POWER" meaning they will be able to used any where in the world & perform as they should regardless of voltage or frequency. He also has a new 2.5K output version that has taller contact posts that would be used in bigger fixtures, 5k sized fixtures & up. The Re-Lamp upgrade to "WORLD POWER" will be done & in stock in 3-4 weeks I will have an answer from Pete tomorrow on how soon he would be able to fulfill the order in this group buy if there is enough interest. FREE SHIPPING IN USA.

Here are the answers to the questions asked:

Will the new versions of the light be rid of the warmer color ring around the light output?
Yes, if you use the new ReLamp Super Lens on the fixture.

Are they flicker free at 1,000-2,000 fps?
Yes.

One question is whether the fan can be switched off (since these don't generate nearly as much heat)?

The fan is 12db, basically silent, and has not been an issue yet. It makes less noise than a camera fan. The unit will run without a fan but it is about two stops less light. You can simply pull the fan connector, its about as easy as a switch, but its on the back of the unit.

Interesting idea! I wonder if there'd be a way/option to convert my Arri Softbank I Tungsten 4 Light Kit - consists of: 1 Fresnel 300, 2 Fresnel 650, 1 Arrilite 1000 Focusing Flood Light into a LED kit.

I'd probably get at least a 650 and 300

I would reach out to Pete at Vision Smith and ask.

Jake & Steve I have you guys down.

Interested in a 650 as well.

Definitely interested! The models and quantity will be dependent on pricing, but I'm interested in the 650 and 2K. Very likely the 5K, depending on more info about that model.

I have an Arri Studio 2K that I bought for real cheap (i a bundle with some 1Ks) that the guy had put an edison plug on... not really ideal for how much power draw that light has. So needless to say, it has sat on my shelf for a while. This might be the perfect way to put it back in business!

Now, silly question maybe, but do these only fit the housing they are matched with (i.e. the 2K LED only fits inside the 2K Arri), or could I put the 2K LED into my 1K Arri fixtures?

I think I'd probably be in for at least one of the 2K (or higher, if the higher output ones can fit in the 2K Arri fixture). Any word on what the discount would be?

I would seriously consider relamping for my ARRI ST-2 2K (120V). One question is whether the fan can be switched off (since these don't generate nearly as much heat). A second question (in my own mind) is whether I prefer Tungsten or Daylight. But I'm definitely inclined if there is a group buy sorting itself out.

Depending on whether they are actually any good or not in terms of output over just buying something like an Aperture Cob120D or the new Hive led, I'd be interested in a 650 and possibly a 2k.

I have the 1K and the 2K already, and have been happy. There are some minor limitations, but the ability to use these battle-tested Arri fixtures as (brighter) daylight sources is great!

Daniel - I haven't been able to test high frame rate, but if anyone is in Toronto with a camera that does it, you're welcome to come and test with mine.

Josh - you can't fit the 2K built in the 1K fixture - it's too large. These ReLamps are fairly tight fits even within the spec'd fixtures.
