My 412 Mole BigEye 2Ks are still hoping for a new life. As Tungsten instruments I rarely use them anymore. Why? They're power hogs that can get hot enough to pop a sweat on talent.
With a proper re-lamp, these sturdy fixtures with the old school fresnel lenses and 2K-ish of daylight lumens to work with could be very handy. Can always bounce or book-light the beam to play as a truly broad source if "flooding" the lens isn't soft enough. Just as is, you have a wide range of spread at your fingertips to mimic everything from a "sharp" source like open sun to a pretty smooth fill. Yes, they're heavy compared to many other options / flip side / they're made of real metal and can withstand the rigors of production.
What would be ideal, is if the 2K Daylight lamp has enough guts to pop through a window as a sun substitute without having to roll out the Hemis (slang for HMI) or the big Nila.

If they have a 5k relamp I would totally be down for that
