GROUP BUY *FEELER* -Re-Lamp By VisionSmith

Interested in 1 2k and 2 1ks

Funny I came on to give more info about reviving this GB. I spoke with Pete a few days ago. He said we will reconvene this after Cinegear, Pete also mentioned that he has a 5K relamp that's pretty close. I will also say that Pete sent me a 1K relamp (about 8 months ago now) to test against a standard halogen bulb, I wasn't able to test it like I would have liked to but I have used it 2 or 3 times in a way that I would use a standard 1K & in a real world situation, there was PRACTICALLY no difference the relamp & a standard bulb though it technically may not be as bright. I will obviously do an official test for the official GB but I wanted to give my real world experience with the 1K in the Mole baby baby.

Still interested...

Still interested...

My 412 Mole BigEye 2Ks are still hoping for a new life. As Tungsten instruments I rarely use them anymore. Why? They're power hogs that can get hot enough to pop a sweat on talent.

With a proper re-lamp, these sturdy fixtures with the old school fresnel lenses and 2K-ish of daylight lumens to work with could be very handy. Can always bounce or book-light the beam to play as a truly broad source if "flooding" the lens isn't soft enough. Just as is, you have a wide range of spread at your fingertips to mimic everything from a "sharp" source like open sun to a pretty smooth fill. Yes, they're heavy compared to many other options / flip side / they're made of real metal and can withstand the rigors of production.

What would be ideal, is if the 2K Daylight lamp has enough guts to pop through a window as a sun substitute without having to roll out the Hemis (slang for HMI) or the big Nila.

Exactly what I'm hoping for too. I've already decided to ask Pete to send me a 2K version to test as this & the 5K are the ones I really want out of this GB. So I will do the sort of test that you describe. From what I can remember the Re-lamp was a lil less than a stop less bright than the tungsten halogen at spot & half spot & was the same at flood, again tungsten. Everybody who has them does say that they are a bit less bright than advertised but says they love them & always use them, go figure.

If they have a 5k relamp I would totally be down for that

Ditto for me — I'm so in for two 2Ks if the price is right. I have three ReLamp 1Ks right now and they're what I use the most. I also picked up a good deal on a Mole 5K LED so a couple 2Ks would be a perfect way to round out my lighting kit.

Know this has been dormant for a while but I'd be interested in a 1k and two 300s! Just came across one of these for the first time last week. Looks like a great option to give life to forgotten fixtures.

iIt looks like these bulbs will work in the mole 2k, based on bulb replacement spec on their website. Can you confrim that?

I'm still hoping to jump on a couple 2K Relamps if this isn't dead. These two poor Mole fixtures I have are just collecting dust!

Whatever happened to this GB or product? I've never seen any on set. Is it worth doing? It seems like a good idea.....
