  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

I agree and the color is identical to what everyone is getting in this group buy :)

It's just a different density of LED chips with less overall light output.

I'm frequently experimenting with stuff like this.

My fixed strips (day light) are more like 6,000K (which isn't a problem) & although the color is better than average I do have to shift it 2-3 notches away from magenta. Hopefully I got a relatively "bad" roll last time.

The color is 6,000K. It's the exact same as Light Gear LiteRibbon.

I would ALWAYS rather have a light that is slightly Magenta, than slightly green.

Are you only testing with the fixed colour strip from the photos or are you testing with a variable as well. I would say both is necessary.
But in look really promissing!
Thank you!

Testing everything, of course :)

Regarding shipping:

Thanks everyone! It's pretty clear to me now why there is nothing else on the market that does all of this. It's really hard to make! There are no more tweaks for high frame rates or, well, anything. The only change being made is they are upgrading a component to help keep the heat down when under a heavy load. They are making this last change this week and then torture testing it. That means 24 hours under a full 40A load while logging vitals. Once this is done I'll be able to give an accurate shipping target dates. There's a light at the end of the tunnel and it's big and bright (and flicker free... ha). We're almost there!

My order arrived today. Thanks. And perfect timing. Shooting diamonds and trinkets tomorrow. These should be perfect! I cant remember if I ordered any controllers but please keep us posted when they are ready. Thanks again.

Great to hear! Let us know how it goes!

Oh, and you have 2 controllers coming. I should have an update in a day or so.

Lumens/meter for daylight and tungsten strips

Lumens/meter for daylight and tungsten strips

Arrived a couple days ago. These look great.

One question: how many lumens/meter are the daylight and tungsten strips? I'm seeing 24w/meter on the packaging, which is way above average, used to seeing 10w/meter. Is this correct? What does this translate to in terms of lumens/meter?

I need to build a few battery-powered rigs, one of which does not require a high CRI at all. The other does and I'll be using these. Trying to figure out the most efficient way of rigging up the other one given my batteries' 48w maximum load and weight concerns that limit the size of the battery... also if I want to waste good LEDs in a rig that is very special-purpose.

Thanks again!

An interesting note, I just did a shot on this movie where I put full cto on my daylight panels I made out of these and they looked great. No weird color. It was on our leading lady for her close up. I wasn't expecting it to work, thats some good cri or color or voodoo or whatever you want to call it.

Nick

Voodoo, huh? Maybe that's Brandon's secret.

:-)

Brandon. Used a strip yesterday for some jewlery/diamonds in glass cases. Basically strung the strip on top of the case and had an assistant put a slight movement into the strip. Sparkle city! These are great. Is there a PDF for accessories.? I will be in need of some power supplies and in less than 24 hours I have managed to lose on of the green connectors! Thanks.

I'll get back to answering everyone's emails and private messages tomorrow. I should have an update about the controller, too.

I'm really glad they're working out so well for you, Nick. Long before this Group Buy started, I spent months sourcing and testing until things were locked down. I really love the color quality of these lights.

That's a great idea, Kirby! I'm sure that looked great. I'll contact you about power supplies directly.

Received three variable rolls and connectors today. This train is rolling!
When you get the chance point me toward instructions on how to safely use other power supplies with these.
I have 12 Rosco Gafters Lite Kit units which should be perfect until our power supplies are available.
Nice job Brandon!
