  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

he's still messing with the controllers... we're still in beta on these lights...I think the next 2 steps are

1. gets prototype of controller that doesn't everything perfect
2. they manufacture them to the next specs.

given everything Brandon's said... probably best case scenario is 2 months, which is December

It will be way before that! I should have an update tomorrow. We are very close to locking this down.
 
looking forward to controllers and power supply ! I have the variable spools so without controller are around 4500K. Can't wait to complete the package, especially running two spools at a time.

I received my spools a few weeks ago...they are really bright and color accurate. I ended up soldering 4 short strips together and sticking them to a piece of silver lame to light the inside of a car for a daytime shoot and ran them off of a vmount. They are awesome.

I'm getting through these orders fast now. International orders are going out now (finally), too. Everything should be submitted for shipping this week for everyone that contacted me about early delivery.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SENT ME YOUR PHONE NUMBER.

I need it for shipping.

CONTROLLER UPDATE

A few more tweaks have been made. These guys are obsessed with making this thing perfect. I am told the final sample will be sent out to me tomorrow, which means it should be in my hands on Monday. As soon as it arrives I'll start my tests and report back (with video). I'll also let you guys know as soon as I have a tracking number!
 
For international are we getting charged twice for shipping if we were to accept the strips before controller is finished?

Just need clarification.

Somewhere in your emails - there is a note from me to say I am flying out of the UK on 26th Aug. Back 20th Sep.

I don't want to get in a situation where items are returned due to be me not being able to sign for them.
(and so if not already sent - please delay sending for 1 month).

Yeah, it's whatever FedEx, USPS, etc. charges plus the handling charged by the warehouse for fulfillment.

I'm calling it a day. I'll be spending all day tomorrow getting orders out as well. If you have written me already about early delivery and I haven't replied yet give me until Tuesday to catch up on your emails. If you don't hear back from me by Tuesday please email (ideally) me again.

So I have a couple of lithium batteries that can change voltage, is it safe to use a lower voltage for example 7.5 or 9v as a makeshift dimmer?
 
I'm emailing out tracking numbers as fast as I get them. Sometimes people in LA get their packages even before I get the tracking info. I'll post an update later tonight.

Should work, though I've never done it.
 
I haven't looked in on this thread lately but just to comprehend where we stand...

We are still awaiting final production on controllers, yes? Those who are receiving orders are getting them without controllers? DO we have the latest estimate on when most of us can start expecting to get our stuff?

(Not in any particular hurt, just want to catch up.)

Yes, we are Terry. Lights are going out to anyone who requests them now. The final controller sample should be in my hands very soon.

5:30am here and I'm still going through these orders and emails. I have to call it a day.

I'm going to need one of these wax recovery baths from "Wanted" after this Group Buy is finished:

Hello,
Long time Red owner/operator here. I'm interested in purchasing a spool of each LED strip on this group buy (hybrid, daylight, tungsten). I would like to acquire a spool from the original lot, take the place of a an existing order, or buy from an existing owner. Please contact me asap.

Also, is there anyone on this group buy who has average color temperature readings on these strips? I use lite gear and there can be quite a variation on CRI / color temperature between products/ batches (especially X2 and X3 daylight)
