Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

Hi brandon,
waiting for my tracking number, any updates ?

I will have your tracking number today (tomorrow for you). Some people, mostly in LA, are receiving their packages before I get their tracking numbers. I will email you as soon as I get it!

Hi Brandon .. Hope you are feeling better and taking it slow getting back to work. I am curious where I might be in the Que?

Thanks! I went down hill for a couple days, but back and feeling great now.

International orders start shipping on Monday. Your order should go out then, Ted. I'll let you know.

Have you received the new controllers yet?

Hi Brandon,

I've not received any replies to my previous several private messages.

We'd like to take delivery of our reels ASAP.

Please let me know what I need to do to make this happen.

Cheers,

Ooh are they starting to ship to people?? so exciting! i didn't see my name on the final list front page, perhaps if you could let me know via PM where things are at that would be fantastic. thanks a lot!

I'm excited since this was originally a Christmas present to my business partner :)

I have received 6 samples in total, but the final unit is not quite ready yet.

I still have a lot of PMs to catch up on. Working on it. I'll get back to you today, Judd.

That list isn't current. I'll PM you, Adrien.

Yeah, this kind of blew up. Back then I was planning on maybe 100 rolls of lights and it ended up being close to 1,000. We also were not building a brand new controller from scratch, which is the main cause of the delay now. If I had some kind of database to manage all this it would be much easier, but there are over 500 invoices and it's all manual and I'm handling it all solo. I haven't mentioned this before, but I also took a 5-figure loan from PayPal for the controllers because we did not reach the minimum order we needed. So, yeah. I'm fully committed to this. The delays suck, but it will be worth it in the end. These controllers and lights are a real game-changer in my opinion. Once the controllers are done, it's smooth sailing, and any future group buys will be automated with a private online shopping cart system.

I have not been following this thread much, but ordered and have not heard anything.

Brandon,

Any estimation on when the controllers will be ready to ship ?

~2.5 weeks after I sign off on the final sample. I hope to have that sample by Friday or Saturday. They are beating the hell out of these units during stress testing to make sure they are ready for professional use. A couple components have needed to be swapped out to make sure there won't be any heat issues. I should also mention they are doing all this at their own cost. There is no price increase for us and the final units will exceed our specification.

cool, thanks for the update, i totally feel like the wait is going to be worthwhile! hopefully there will be a heads up as the controllers will reach their final stages and prepare for shipment. if i'm reading correct , you have some of thestrips already, so i could potentially get the LEDs delivered? i'm not sure if that's a priority, but i would consider it simply for the fact that it might take some time to build some of the enclosures i had in mind. just some thoughts. thanks so much for your dedication for this project, i'm kind of blown away by the community in this forum on many levels :D

I am in need of more of the connector parts, for power ect. Anyone have a source to recommend? Preferable something I could get quick.

Thank you, Michael. It will be long before that! I don't have the finished controller yet, but I will next week. A couple issues came up during QC. First the smoothness of the brightness changes became a problem after they fixed the high frame rate flicker. That required a software update, which is done now and fully tested. The second issue was a heat problem on the circuit board that came up during stress testing. This required a component change on the circuit board. That's now done as well. I'm told they will ship the sample to me either tomorrow or Monday. I should have it by Wednesday. Once I get the unit we can nail down the timeline. These delays suck, but I'm really glad they are working so hard to make the controller perfect for us. The final unit will significantly exceed the spec we were quoted and there's nothing on the market even close to this in terms of functionality. Our production run will take a couple weeks and that countdown should start next week.

Great - looking forward to seeing stuff now that the production run countdown has started. Thanks for organizing.

brandon, i sent you couple PMs with no reply... i would like to cancel the order and let other groupbuy user to get in (i noticed few) ... after almost a year of waiting i found different solution

Hello Brandon,

I also sent you a PM a while back inquiring about the possibility of picking up a few extra rolls of lights. If Martin's order does get canceled, and you need to find a buyer for his rolls, please let me know. Depending on the type and quantity he ordered, I would be willing to purchase them.

Dear Brandon, I wrote you some mails asking for an early delivery, so far it seem you didn't find the time to reply. I would be very grateful if you could just give me a quick answer, if the LED Strips could be send soon.

Something else. Without wanting to suggest any further changes to the controller, I wondered why the input power for the controller (as shown on the controller pictures) is ranging from 12 to 24V.
Wouln't it have been possible and better to make it work with up to 28,8V as well?
As many of the bigger camera batteries supply 14,4 and 28,8V. We could have used the controllers with LED Strips of 24V and standard camery batteries as well?

Thank you for all your effort!

Orders are going out every day. I can only do so much per day and I have to personally front the money for shipping and handling before I invoice people to get it back. Most people are quick to pay the shipping, but a few I haven't heard from again. I'm sure I will eventually get it, but the delays are a big headache and slow things down for everyone.

Martin and Nathanial, I'll get in touch with you both by email.

Nils, the input should be 12V (vs. 24) with our group buy strips because they are 12V strips. LED strips come in either 12V or 24V variety, that's why the option is there. This doesn't mean you can't use V-mounts because they are over 12V fully charged. They are fine. It just means you don't want to use 24V power with 12V strips.

The first, small, international order went out as a test. As soon as it arrives, and I know everything is fine, then the rest will go out. I have to be careful about this because I can't afford to eat any of these costs. There are 500+ orders.

BTW, a DP in LA I won't name emailed me saying he priced out a controller solution with wireless capabilities on par with what our controllers offer and he was told it would be $4,000. At $127.92, per unit it's one hell of a deal that we are getting. Another person who received their daylight and tungsten rolls just wrote me wanting another 50 rolls in the next one of these we do -- which will use a private automated web shop -- if I survive this first round :) My point is you will not be disappointed!

I'm going to temp hire a bookkeeper to get everything organized as efficiently as possible (i.e. merge multiple orders) and once the controllers are done, and the majority of the orders are ready to go out, things will move much faster because I can bulk submit your orders for delivery.

EMAIL IS THE BEST WAY TO REACH ME.

Also, regarding the controller, the new printed circuit board is done, software changes are done, and our new custom IC will be ready on Friday. They are very confident no further problems will come up and by Tuesday it will be en route to me. So next week I should have the final unit in hand and ready to test. I will start shooting tests immediately.

Back to work...

Hi Brandon

I would be willing to bet there is a menu/account setting in Gmail to not show emails by thread, so you can at least see all unread emails in future.

Hope your health holds up & continues to improve.

Take care,
Eric

You're right, Eric! Just found where to change that in the settings. Thank you!

I'm doing much better now, but under strict orders to ease back into work slowly.
