  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

Hi Brandon

Send me the invoice with the 2 new controllers update. No matter if I'll receive only a power supply. I cannot wait anymore.

Thanks.

I'll do it today.

Not sure if you're jesting sir ... but I most definitelly would be in! :D

AJ

Let's say I'm not... :)

(can't say much more than this yet)

Update:

I just finished another big batch of controller upgrades. The invoicing should, finally, be done tomorrow.

About the C-700 GB, I will know more after NAB.

I still have a few new emails to reply to. I will get to them tomorrow.
It's 5:30am and I have to call it a day. Exhausted.

Everyone has been invoiced now for the controller upgrades!

FYI, just a friendly reminder that we can't get our controllers until everyone pays.

Can't wait to get mine!:)

I'm anxious to get mine as well! :) The faster everyone pays the faster we will all get everything. It will take 2.5 weeks for all our controller units to be produced.

These are super bright. Love the light they give. Too bright to look at.

This is a the little Paper Lantern design I've been working on. I wanted the LEDs all roughly pointing down at a 45 degree angle rather than straight out, so I decided to use a cone shape. And after I knew that, I had to find a cone shape that could still fit into the opening of a china ball. So I used a funnel. Which worked out great. I had all the wires run downward and into the bottom of the funnel, and inside is where the cluster of wires met up. The funnel couldn't be too big, or else it wouldn't fit into a 12"/16" ball. So it kind of limited the amount of LEDs I could fit on it.

Build your own lights now? I just changed out all 97 bulbs in my house and am saving 6x the power. Image if every house, in every city upgraded with similar results.

I noticed LEDs are cool enough to wrap a colored gel around. Literately, directly touching the bulb. I can make any color light I want. These lights are a step even further. Are LEDs changing the industry? I haven't had much time. Looking forward to learning more and doing some tests with LEDs lights. I can provide a Dragon and lenses if anyone has some worthwhile test ideas we could share here.

Where is a good LED lighting store in Los Angeles that I might find these and other LED bulbs? Thanks in advance for any recommendations.

You can't buy LED lights like this at light stores. What's good enough for home and business use is not good enough for film/video use. It took me months of searching to source these. Lite Gear offers comparable lights for film / video use and they're $300+ a roll. Also, off the shelf controllers/dimmers will look horrible on video (flicker, etc.). So, be careful. It's easy to throw money away when trying to find deals on this stuff.

Awesome post and pictures Corey. Thanks!

There is so much interest in what your doing Brandon, thank you for that. I'd missed this group, crap!

Do you have any video tests you can share with us?
