  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

So, again, not to be a bother, but to clarify, do I have to wait fro the whole controller thing to get sorted out when it doesn't concern my order? Or are things that are ready to go going to go out before then?

Nick

Everything is going out at once. I'm out of the country now and until the controllers are ready to ship. Then I'm flying back and will spend a week getting all the orders out before heading back overseas.

I'm sending you a PM right now, Nick. Please take a look...

Hello Brandon,

I hope you see that I have paid all my invoices.....yes?

Yes, we will move forward without them once we reach the minimum we need for our controller. We aren't quite there yet. I also haven't signed off on the final prototype yet. It will be soon though...

The people that haven't paid since being invoiced in December will be blacklisted from future orders we do if they don't pay soon. I'm at the limit of my patience with them. Their orders were all confirmed individually and their strips and accessories were ordered and received. I can find other buyers for their lights, but I don't have time to deal with the hassle of all that.

.

If you have trouble collecting maybe post the number of lights/controllers unpaid.

A few of us may be willing to step up and buy their products....even some of the guys waiting for the second round might want to jump in early.

This group buy is like a breath of fresh air in this forum. Since Brandon is not simply pushing some "brands" here. He is delivering value to all of us, as opposed to some others who are just championing some established brands and at times bypassing the reduser sponsorship rules. However, it's been three months since I paid the first invoice. I didn't ask for early shipping as we were told that the LEDs along with the controller will ship in march. Looks like it will be another couple of months waiting. :( You should maintain an excel sheet which has the orders, paid unpaid columns etc so that you can track easily.

PS: On another note, one of the kickstarter companies (Trigger Trap) that I supported who came back and told me after one and half years that they have spent 80% of the money and will refund me 20%.

"The second group buy will all be done on a password protected web shop setup for this. Shipping will also be automated. That will make managing things much easier."
Excellent Brandon, that will make this way better for you and all of us that have followed through and made our payments in a timely manner. Thanks again Brandon for your tireless work on this project.

Hi Brandon,

I have an upcoming short film where I need a lightweight (and not overly expensive) soft light source. I'm considering buying a KinoFlo kit 4 bank, since most LEDs I tried had a terrible green / magenta cast (and the really good ones are to expensive).

Since everyone here seems to be very impressed with the light quality of these LEDs, I was wondering if it's possible to buy them somewhere directly (even at the regular price).

I'm of course also looking forward to the 2nd group buy!

Thank you for all your great work!

Cheers
David

I'm interested in getting a few more spools but I was wondering if we'll have time between actually receiving everything and the second group buy, so I can test them out before I double down. Thanks for all your work Brandon, you should see that I'm all paid up.

I hope it doesn't come to that, but if so I'll definitely do that.

I have kept an spreadsheet through this whole ordeal. It's all very organized and you will all get everything as promised. Don't worry about that. There are over 400 invoices. This whole thing became much bigger than I expected and it's a heavy load for one person. Things will be handled a little different for the next round (private web shop, automated shipping, etc.). We are also getting a dream controller and great lights at an amazing price. There are also some really cool surprises coming...

Happy to do it. These are all products I have wanted for a long time. It's great that, with our numbers, we can make this happen.

There is no other way to buy these right now because it was a special run for us, but I may be able to help. PM me your email, David.

Btw, any news about the tubes ? These looked really interesting.
If not, can these be bought somewhere else ?

Thanks !

The tubes will be in the second group buy. I can't deal another tidal wave of manual invoices right now.

Here the same. All paid! ;-)

Pat

Thanks Patrick!

Yes, there will be time and yeah, you are. Thanks!

I should have the latest prototypes soon. Hopefully the last. A lot of work is going into the testing to make sure these controllers exceed everyone's expectations.

To those of you that are all paid up, thank you for your patience. You're going to love what's coming...

Thanks for all of your work on this, Brandon. I imagine this would be something for a wifi app, but would there be a way to set the controller for flicker effects?

I read back through the thread but didn't see where we landed on this. Does anyone have a link to a good diffused tube to mount these to. I think they were mentioned as being in the next group buy. Is there anything currently on the market that will do a solid job?

The "tubes" Or "sticks" are just Aluminum LED Channel/profiles. They are used in residential/commercial lighting. I'm sure if you search up "Aluminum LED (Insert your city)" you should find something. They weren't made for film, rather, film took the idea from it. There's a bunch of different designs. Some are made for lips of stairs, some are made for display cabinets, some are made for under the cabinet lighting in residential purposes. You can see why set wiremen took the idea, because you can incorporate it into set pieces very easily.

Thanks for the info man. I'm sure there are variations to the designs from manufacturer to manufacturer. If anyone has a link to some that have been tried and tested and have proven to work well and are easily mountable, please share!

Yeah, that would be for the iOS app. Definitely possible.
