  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

If we're taking feature requests I would request that you put a V-Mount Plate's standard hole pattern on the back of the controller so that you could bolt on a V-Mount battery source and make it self contained if desired.

Cool idea, but they are too small for that.

This controller and the lights are the beginning of what will be an entire ecosystem you guys are going to love. I don't want to distract you with what's coming other than to say it's going to be awesome and you are going to be glad you got in when you did... :)

Can somebody please post a summary of what is going on since the group buy ended? I don't have time to go through this entire thread but it sounds like some things have changed?

The long light tube samples arrived today. Here's a double tube that you can put 2 rows of LED strip lights inside. I was smiling like at a kid at Christmas when this lit up :) I have so much location shooting to do where AC power just won't be an option. These are going to be amazing to use. CRI 95+, they stay cool to the touch, very (!) bright, flat backed so they are easy to attached to whatever (via mounting bracket or just tape), and all run off batteries (if needed)...

There is a 12" ruler in front of it to give you an idea of the scale, but it's kind of hard to see. They are 1 meter (3.3 feet) long.

I'll get the details together for these asap. I'm stocking up myself.

If you have a light meter handy I'd love to know what that reads at ISO 800 1/48th at 5/6 feet.

They are much brighter than what L-G offers (nearly double). Unfortunately, I don't have a meter with me. Pretty much all of my kit is overseas for the film. I hadn't planned on being in the US this long.

This is turning into one of the most interesting GB's I can remember (and i've participated in many)
For what we are getting this is one hell of a deal. I will be interested to see how people utilize these strips and accessories to create useful lighting!
Really nice work Brandon!

Very exciting Brandon!

I have seen the LIGHT again!

This is a great groupbuy indeed.

Brandon great job. I am definitely down for the tubes and the new and very much improved controller. I am guessing this one will operate both the single Kelvin strips as well as the variable Kelvin strips. I will gladly give up the old style ones for the new ones.

Super
David

Correct. L-G has one type for fixed strips and one for variable. They are no doubt excellent products, but they cost a fortune AND you are locked in to using only their expensive strips. With the controller we are getting 1 model works with either kind of strip and you aren't locked into anything. Use whatever strips you want with it. And that's not even counting the wireless options, iOS app, more amps, etc... It's an amazing deal at twice the price.
