  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

This is one of their tungsten strips and I tested it 5 times. The CRI was either 92.5 or 92.4 every time. It's also interesting that the color temp is also out of range since they say it's +/- 100k. That's not a big deal (all lights vary), but still interesting...

I'd rather deal with that than people getting CRI95 strips that are really 92.5 ;)

My Sekonic C-700 arrived today so I tested one of the tungsten strips in our Group Buy inside a 1 foot tube with diffusion.

CRI 98!

I can't wait to get these out to all of you! This test really made my day.

Brandon, I received the invoice. Is the manual still being sent?

I want to reiterate that we're all receiving sekonic c700s for free from what I've gathered? Is there warranty? :p

Data sheet and FAQ. I'm updating it based on the feedback I've gotten so far.

3 year warranty on the controllers.

Organizing the free C-700s is all you, Note. Don't disappoint ;)

I'm not fully up to speed on this thread, but I'd like the nice controller and the light tubes. Also interested in buying more LEDs if I like what I get in the first batch...
 
Update


I just emailed everyone a PDF all about the new controller. If you did not receive it, please search your email for "LED Group Buy - Controllers & Shipping". It may have ended up in your spam folder.

I got an update today about the status of the new controllers. The PCB (printed circuit board) is done and they are now working on the software. I should have the first 5 units in hand in approximately 10 days!

Everyone's lights and kits should be shipped to them next week! As soon as lights start shipping we will start a second group buy for a new batch of lights. There will be several new options available. If you think you will want in on the second batch PM me your email and I will add you to the list.

thanks for the big update, those controllers are looking great! Chinese new year is coming up very fast and there's always a 2 week period when everything closes around there. Do you have an idea when the controllers would be ready to be shipped to us?

So, if I remember well, the strips (at least the variable ones) aren't usable without a controller, right ? So we might as well wait for the controllers and get everything shipped at once ?
Are the "old" controllers still an option too, or only the new ones, btw ?

Also, any news about the tubes ? Would love to hear more about these...

I will have the first 5 units before Chinese new year. The full production run will be ready in March, but the exact timing will depend on how quickly everyone settles their orders. Power supplies won't go out until they can fully tested with the new controllers.

Yeah, the variable strips need a controller, but the fixed color temp strips will work without one. When I start contacting people about shipping next week you will have the option to hold off on shipping until everything is ready.

Tubes will be ready to ship in March. I'll have a document together for those this week.

Yeah, that's correct. 2 full variable strips or 4 full fixed strips is the max. The channels can't be independently controlled though.

Great, I think I'll have everything shipped in march then. It will be too frustrating to have the strips and not be able to play with them ! ;-)

Also, if you do a second group buy for another batch of strips, please wait until we have everything in our hands so we can decide if we want to order more or not. If these live up to our expectations, I'm pretty sure many people who ordered during the first batch will want to order more too !
 
I just got a message that the lights have cleared customs and should arrive tomorrow!

All 14 boxes of them... :)

Every shipment of LED lights will have their own spectral analysis included. Some of us thought it would be a good idea that such mentioned spectral analysis should be displayed through an included free C700, you know, for the sake of accuracy ;)
