  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Group Buy: Budget CRI 95 LED Strip Lights

We will hit the ground running with the controllers and lights as soon as I'm back on my feet from the stem cell transplant I'm getting now. I'm trying to take it easy, so not checking PMs or email, but you can subscribe to this thread or find me on Facebook.

Oh, and thanks Andy for that last post, and everyone that's been so supportive. This community was instrumental in me being able to get this transplant done. I can't thank you guys enough.

lol! The fact that you're experiencing what you've experienced and you're still plugging away and devoted to keeping people updated.... You're a machine Brandon! I hope you're feeling better bud!

Brandon, thank you for answering, and of course, you need to go heal first. That's a million times more important.

When I posted, I was sort of expecting that someone else might have taken over some of the work. I would never expect you to do anything BUT heal right now.

In a few weeks is FINE. Now stop reading this, and relax! I hope your recuperation is complete and as painless as possible. :)

THANK YOU

You've been the definition of both integrity and strength from all angles here. Hope for a speedy recovery and that your work on the controllers see more love than just the people involved in this thread.

Wishing you all the best Brandon.

Our thoughts are with you.

Hi Brandon,

are you "back on track" fully ? Latest news sounds promising

Hi Brandon,

are you "back on track" fully ? Latest news sounds promising

Yes, I am back to work this week. I have been having trouble with my eyes, but they are almost back normal now.

Here's the latest:

We have until the 20th of December to lock down everything. Then production starts, which would mean I will have the units in hand around the 3rd or 4th week of January.

I will need to fly back to the US to be there when they arrive and prepare everything for the fulfillment company. This works out, since I can't travel long distances until January it looks like, since I'm still recovering from chemo.

I'm setting up an online store for us to help me keep all this organized and will do another push to sell off the rest of the controllers. I'm in the red 5 figures on this with the PayPal loan I took for the controllers and still am making payments on.

I'm also working on kits and a few other cool things you guys have asked for that will help you hit the ground running once you get your controllers. Tutorial videos are in the works now, too.

This has been a crazy journey, but things are looking good. I have a new lease on life, and the controllers rock. They have been tested hard on set by people for several months now, and have been rock solid.

From now through January, I'm working on this full time.

Today I started doing DIY product shots for this stuff. Here's the final controller in all its glory...

It was, of course, lit with our Group Buy LEDs. :)

Awesome news, Brandon.

THANKS!

I'd be interested to know how you lit that controller so well Brandon... can you provide a basic description or sketch?

Guys, you are going to love those controllers! We were doing beta testing of an early build, and they really do rock!

SO glad you are feeling better. When you can, please provide a link to the online store. Id love to buy some LEDs and controllers

THANKS!

I used 3 panels, 2 x 2 in size, with 1 roll of light on each, and a thin piece of translucent white acrylic. The controller is on the acrylic which is bent in like a 1/4 circle behind at maybe a 45 degree angle to form a backdrop. I have one panel about a foot under the acrylic base, another about a foot behind the backdrop, and the third at about a 45 degree angle over the camera though slightly to the left. Sadly, I couldn't use my Dragon for this because I had to sell it. I used the best camera I have at the moment, which is a little 4k camcorder. I've had a RED camera for 5 years, very strange to not have one now. Hoping to go Helium next year. :)

Great job, thanks Brandon!

Thanks, Carey!

Your film was the first feature to use these lights and controllers all the way through. Excited to see the results!

Thanks Brandon.

Weird my RU feed hasnt been updating of late and had to check back to see your prev post.

Good to see you again :)

I am interested in this controller, or maybe a couple of them. I have a couple of single color LED's from tiki hat I purchased. (I didn't make this group buy) and was thinking of using The yuji led's with this controller. If there is ever a group buy or anything for the LED's or controller again. I am definitely in.
