ANyone know if anyone rents these in LA?

Would love to roadtest one on a shoot before committing.

whats the weight of the Monitor?
Looking for a dual solution. Light grading at home and client monitor on set.
Sumo M was the first choice.

Sumo M was the first choice.

Will get that detail for you Marcus.

That's personally how I use it and it serves admirably. Sits on my desk as second monitor for editing and grading, then I transport it in the Pelican case (the custom foam being included with this kit is a great bonus) to set. Definitely doesn't seem heavy to me. It's lighter than the 15" monitor in a hard enclosure that I had previously.

Can we get intel on whether or not they do free calibrations thru the year? Also Does it allow hardware calibration? Thanks

They do calibration after factory production. If there's a calibration issue within the 1 year warranty you can send to OSEE for a free calibration. Calibration would have to be done by OSEE, not a function for users.

IMHO i am interested but there's so little actual data about how the screen performs out there.

Like i would want to see a fully profiled display to understand what it could be used for. What are the black levels like (how many nits), what is the uniformity like, can this be adjusted over time, what is the actual gamut, how accurate and so on. I cannot find any solid technical reviews of it. You have displays like the Eizo CG247x which price/performance seems pretty amazing (but that's not a field monitor i understand that). There's the Sumo 19M though and Konvision displays and so on. In this case just not enough real data yet.

cheers

I just received a unit I bought. I have a 1703 P3x and a Sumo in my rental inventory. What I can say is that if you a fan of the "robust" build (& feel) of the 1703/Sumo you might be a little disappointed about the Osee "lean" feel however what I find odd about this monitor is the fact that Osee should have included the Cheese plate as part of the base offering on this monitor. If the cost cannot not be absorb, they could have just added $80 (cost of the Cheese plate) to the base cost. Waited 10days to get this monitor, now I will have to wait another 10days just for the plate! Could have just waited for this GB for my 2 units!
The Cheese plate is ABSOLUTELY necessary if you plan to mount any form of magic arm to this monitor (probably for wireless receivers).

Value for money, I think this monitor hits an home run but I wouldn't compare it to 1703 yet. There's just way too many little things in the 1703 p3x that makes it seem more professional than this monitor, and the Sumo's touch screen while not a professional necessity does make for a very fast navigation management. In this age of touch screen interfaces, Sumo's menu interaction and accessibility feels very natural [almost] intuitive.
My Sumos and 1703s are out, will post a side pic of all these 3 once I have the opportunity. The insert is a very nice bonus! Spent almost $200 for my 1703 custom insert from mycasebuilder.

Ah, great some comparisons. Do you profile your displays, do you use Lightspace or CalMan?

The 1703 would be much better than the OSEE i think, it's basically P3. But if you cannot profile these displays it would be awesome to see a side by side photograph showing blacks from the same image, to get a handle on contrast.

Nope. Just left it at the factory cal. I once had a horrible experience trying to calibrate a grading monitor in the past. I rather just stay away from calibrating myself. Would post a pic tomorrow though.

I would upgrade the stand mount on the OSEE to a proper C-Stand Vesa Mount. That said, many mounts now have an extra 1/4-20 mount to attach accessories like a wireless receiver.

Bought the Matthews Monitor Mount for my Sumos https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/591034-REG/Matthews_861862_Monitor_Mount_for_Baby.html but I realy like the QR design of the MMS12

Indoors (Stacked against my projector screen to get an idea of the ambient color cast and the color variance in the monitors)
OSEE: Brightness 20, Backlight 2
1703 p3x: Backlight 20
Sumo 19M: Backlight 20

Outdoors (Stacked against a silver car to get an idea of how bright the sun is. Pic shot at ISO 100, f11, 1/50)
OSEE: Brightness 100, Backlight 10
1703 p3x: Backlight 100
Sumo 19M: Backlight 100

It's much obvious that all these monitors shine very well outside with a hood, so I decided to go without the hood. The Sumo is basically a mirror, absolutely unusable outdoors without a hood. The screen is too reflective. The Osee seem a little washed out compared to the 1703 P3x, the black level is not as deep and I also noticed a very slight tint of green in it. OSEE definatly needs to hire a UI/UX designer to put some appeal into their menu navigation. Their menu system looks like something pulled out of 1990's projector menu. 1703 P3x ticks all the boxes for me. If you are on a budget this (OSEE) is a no brainer especially at a 3rd of the price of p3x. Its a very good monitor.

No scientific observation here, just regular real world usage.
