Anyone have any footage shot on RED utilizing the Global Dynamics United 24mm rehoused canon lens? Or even any footage of the original 24mm f2.8 STM lens on RED would be fine (since they're practically the same thing).

Curious to see output before I make a decision to pick one up.

Thank you guys in advance!

I put the preorder request in back when he posted it, but never got an invoice or anything. Has anyone actually received one??

I believe mine has shipped and will be here end of the day friday. Unfortunately, since I only have a GH4 with a speed booster at the moment, I'm not sure how accurate a test will be. Of course, unless my allocation email comes soon!

yeah i got mine in less than a week from that first order, for now i could only test in on a friends canon rebel. the close focus is ridiculous, i was on his eyeball.
though i dont know how i am actually going to use this on a motion picture camera, auto focus tracking wasnt so good.
is there a way on red cameras to zap in auto focus (like a dslr by pressing the button half down) and then it locks in there for shooting?

Got mine too. Pre-order didn't do anything official, just signed you up to receive the email once it was finished.

Fool control and Lattitude is what's going to make this lens useful.
or maybe the side handle coming, but both expensive options just for a $300 low end still lens, i bought it cause jarred made it.
im still trying to figure out what latitude and POE even really do, just give you internal focus remote through an rf signal instead of wifi?
seems like a big box to hang off the camera when there are now a dji focus gear with transmission built in.

Clayton, this had me confused, too. The preorder turned into an email update sign up in the end. You should've gotten an email which links to the shop, but nothing more. You can just go ahead and order one. Mine arrived a few weeks back.

Does your DJI focus gear write the focus distance in mm into your r3d file, and what are the cost and weight of the lens you control with the DJI focus?

:)

i dont have one, that is the point, im trying to figure out which route to go, so the latitude works alone with a hand controller, or is there a module you need too.

Quite a bit of vignetting going on there.

Am I correct in saying you cannot manually focus this lens unless in camera or using foolcontrol?

You are correct, JD. This is what's stated exactly on the GDU website:

*This is an electronic only lens, your camera MUST be able to drive the motors electronically for both Focus and IRIS adjustments. This includes most Canon cameras, RED cameras with DSMC Canon mounts, and various other cameras with electronic EF mounts.

you can set preset buttons on the camera montior or handle to focus up or focus down, or use an external controller app like foolcontrol or a hardware controller like the rtmotion / lattitude.

for quasi auto lock focus you can go single in the focus menus on the RED cameras and touch anywhere on the screen to focus on that.. it will focus to that and stay there.

Hey Jarred - I never received the order that I'm aware of to get the 24mm lens? It looked awesome and was really hoping to pick one up. I did the online "preorder/reservation" thing when it was announced on your FB page. Should I put in another request?

Thanks!

yeah, i was trying the touch screen thing at the redstore on the prelit scene you got there and it was having trouble grabbing focus on anything, but in auto mode it did pretty much stay in focus. i need to play more with it once i get my camera. can you set on of those front buttons on the camera to be a focus zapper? i understand fool control but that is kind of hard to do when you are handheld by yourself.
