What's the easiest way to genlock and slave 5 cameras to a master? I was thinking about using the AJA Gen10 w/ the Red Sync cables for all cameras, and that would get me genlock, but is it also possible to have one master camera and 4 slave cameras? The Master/Salve cable from Red only does one master and one slave. Would I have to custom create a cable to get master/slave functionality with 5 cameras?

Using 5 x GIG-E cables you can connect all 5 cameras into a GIG-E router and then use MASTER / SLAVE functionality thru that network of cameras.
You will obviously need tick the 'Enable Camera to Camera' in Ethernet tab.

Why not use lockit boxes? They can be synced to your master clock (usually from audio) then your timecode slate and all cameras are in perfect sync and they can move about independently as they're not cabled together.

I thought about that, timecode sync would certainly be close enough, but having genlock is nice knowing each frame is being read at the same time. And I won't have to worry about drift if they're all connected to the same box. The cameras will be in close proximity for a 360 VR setup so cabling isn't an issue, and probably even preferred.

Yes dont trust timecode for that. Better what Michael said.

Slave will NOT genlock them, so it will need to be done separately

You can use a router or a simple switch.
With a switch you will need to setup all the IP addresses manually and use the master as the gateway for other cameras.

For example :
Master IP : 10.10.10.1 NetMask 255.255.255.0 gateway : 10.10.10.1
Slave 1 : 10.10.10.2 NetMask 255.255.255.0 gateway : 10.10.10.1
Slave 2. : 10.10.10.3 NetMask 255.255.255.0 gateway 10.10.10.1

etc
