Gauging interest in BRIGHT TANGERINE FOLLOW FOCUS

Just in case anyone forgot? lol

Well we really have no recourse other than periodic public shaming for missed shipping date estimates. Whether it has any impact is anyone's guess but its all we got.

I'm sure the product will be epic. I hope it ships some day.

Public shaming would be more appropriate for a company who took your group buy money up front and still hasn't delivered product. Bright Tangerine hasn't done either...

Well its a figure of speech. Public whining more to your liking?

I think patience comes in handy...

It's not like they are holding things back on purpose. As soon as there's any info it will make its way here. Until then, nothing is going to change.

If you are losing patience, maybe ask "are there any updates?"

I know the BT guys are working hard to get this out. They're not going to release a subpar product. You never know what snags you're going to hit. RED has had a few of those products that will never see the light of day.

I love BT stuff and have 2 of their mattboxes and will be buying this Follow Focus for sure whenever it's ready but why apologize for them?

Is there a way to get paid to apologize for other companies? If so sign me up! I'll say things like "just have a little more patience for View Factor to ship their wireless system" and "DJI has great customer service you must have had a isolated incident" .........just kidding, I would never say those things.

Because unlike those companies, BT has not accepted any payments and not delivered product... Kind of a different scenario here lol

We are scheduled to have an update by the end of this month. As the thread has always stated, this has been an Interest thread in the GB for the BT Follow Focus products.

Stay Tuned!

Thank you very much

I don't care how long it takes (well I do) I'll get it when it comes out... It's silly a marvelous design and a technological forward thinking in the filed of pulling manual focus... The extras bits of care included in the design and it's fill and movement in our hand is simply sublime... And I only played with it on the show floor, I know I'll love it when I take it home... :)

Any updates?

Still out of stock on their website. About to order an O'Connor CFF-1..

What's it been? A year sine they announced? More?

Even though I have 4 BT matte boxes, and love them, they need to get this product out the door to maintain credibility with me and a whole lot of other people...

I don't understand the BS line we keep getting that, "they're not going to release it until it's perfect." What successful company operates like that? What if Apple had decided not to release the iPhone 1 because it had to have the functionality of an iPhone 7.

Waiting for a product for, what?, nearly two years? Insane. It's about credibility, guys. I think honesty is a factor as well. If 19 months ago they had said, "We are going to have a wonderful product, one that's on par with our matteboxes, but it may be a good long while before you have anything in your hands" -- most people would be okay with that. Better yet, don't announce until you're ready to roll it out. It's just really frustrating.

I can't even find in this thread where I removed my name from being "interested" - i went and eventually bought an FF-5 ... which is bomber. I personally think this thread should be locked and Nick should open a new one when the product is real. I delayed my purchase of my FF5 because of this thread for quite some time, I bet there are others like me who delayed purchases - and I know,i know, this is a "interest" thread but it also has a list of names.

Gauging interest in NINTENDO POWER GLOVE
1989: High! Very high!

Now: less. much less.

I've vented now. I feel better :)

.... Earlier in this thread I posted that I sold a FF5 in anticipation of this follow focus. Even though it is kind of true it is not enough reason to lash out super 'upset' that they are slow to deliver. I was excited by the offereing but never really liked the ff5cine. I would not have sold a FF4 to replace it... Only an idiot would sell one thing when its essential replacement is not actually available.

As a small company BT want/need to have the FF out and selling more than any of us need a particular FF. This is not a big company manipulating a market through devious marketeering... (I have seen fashion brands do this on purpose).

Was this list premature YES
Will anything anyone says on this list make it come out faster NO
If you absolutely need a follow focus today should you buy something else YES (I'd recommend a FF4)
Am I waiting to see BT's shipping FF before I choose YES

When it comes out if it is not good enough we will buy another FF4. Since I have seen the prototype I am quietly confidant it will be worth the wait but not if it is rushed out and there is the QC issues. I have been around long enough and have seen many good ideas plagued as products by tiny QC or design problems

It is a bit annoying but not a situation that warrants consumer type brand betrayal gibberish.

Good luck to them..

Hi ALl!

We all know that Bright Tangerine creates and manufactures superb quality kit, which is the reason for the extraordinary interest expressed in this thread and in other venues, for their Follow Focus units. That is the thesis that is cogent.

We are also keenly aware that there has been no financial committment required to date, for the Interest Participants. The current List of Participants is to be used, after editing, for attrition, etc., for order to purchase, when the units become available to ship.

Whilst I share your anticipatory angst, there really isn't more to add, at this point.

Stay thirsty my friends!

Thank you very much

I'm a little bummed this didn't come out sooner... I would have bought it for my FS7 last year, but now I'm gearing up for my Scarlet-W purchase (and all of the RED-centric stuff that comes along with it...) not sure if I can justify this purchase if it comes out in the next couple months.

Thanks for the updates, though, Fury! I'll keep my eyes peeled for when the Atom price gets posted. I got to use it at NAB last year and the features were great. It was a prototype and had a couple issues with the gearing but otherwise it was incredibly well made. Can't wait to see the final one.

How does it compare to the O'Connor CFF-1, which I believe he designed as well..?

I honestly have never used the O'Connor, but everything about the BT one is top notch. So modular. It will be worth the wait.
