Gauging interest in BRIGHT TANGERINE FOLLOW FOCUS

Not open for further replies.
So you are saying this is in fact NOT a group buy?

It's an interest list for a group buy. The group buy thread will be separate... No group buy has started as this follow focus is still being finalized.

The Thread Title:

Thread: GROUP BUY: BRIGHT TANGERINE FOLLOW FOCUS INTEREST

Which has looked like a group buy from the get go...

OK.

I think it soon would be time to close this and get a real group buy going, when BT is ready to ship.

There are also new group buy rules underway, so whoever is going to arrange the Group Buy should contact David Battistella first.

Group Buys for non-shipping equipment will not be very welcome in the future.

Looking at post #1, I am hard pressed to NOT understand this as a group buy, BTW...

Without pricing info how do you gather interest?

Kinda necessary to get people on an interest list. The first question is always how much? Plus this thread went up before any of the new group buy rules. No group buy has begun and no money has been exchanged so I think its status of an interest thread is still in tact.

When they are ready to ship and the group buy begins, Fury will start a new thread for sure.

Hm... :)

Whatever.

But that sounds like a good plan.

And also to get rid of this thread when things become real.

Remind him to contact David Batistelle before initiating the actual Group Buy.

For now I have just changed the thread title.

I'm actually going to see Fury today to test out his new Kowa set so I'll let him know if he doesn't see this first ;-)

Fury has been on it.

The intention has always been to use the GB INTEREST list to create the GB, when the particulars are available. I think I have reviewed that in the range of ver 100 times, with PM's, etc..

Thanks for the restatement. I'll again contact Davide privately to reconfirm.

At any rate, it is with interest that I read Jarred responded to a poll (interest) concept that I raised, a few days ago, regarding LDS, for Weapon, with a proposed interest vs. price, for just that product from RED.

Thank you very much

Fury

So any updates at all about when the FF will be shipping? There's a complete silence on this product, not even the Bright Tangerine twitter account shows any sign of it, while the website shows the FF in all it's glory.

What can we really expect? What is a good approximation on availability? Are we talking August? September? October?

Hi ALL!

Just had a meeting with Bright Tangerine. They will be officially posting an update on 17, August 2015, HERE 1ST on Reduser and thence on social media.

This is happening, just later than we all expected.

Stay tuned!

Thank you very much

Fury

Bright Tangerine Official Announcement

Bright Tangerine Official Announcement

Hello and a very big thank you.

The intention of this thread was to share our ideas and let the professional community expand, shape and make the products even better to suit their/your needs. That’s exactly what's happened and we can’t thank you enough.

We also understand its incredibly frustrating when you can’t carry through on straight forward purchasing decisions. We’ll be posting monthly updates on twitter.

Q: Why is to taking so long?

A: Some of the design elements in Revolvr are very new and pushed the limits of what our suppliers were able to deliver. Note that we say, “were able” in the past tense, because with patience and practice they have been able to get to where we need them to be… but it has indeed taken awhile.

Every time we make new parts its takes a few weeks, then we assemble them and perform repetitive tests for weeks. We do this for every part, sub assembly and then as fully assembled products. If it doesn’t meet our design specifications, we redesign and repeat the process again. Doing it right just takes time and there aren’t any shortcuts. We won’t compromise on the performance and quality of our products.

Q: When will Revolver be ready?
A: Recently we have decided to switch several components to titanium and these need to be trialed in the pre-production of a limited batch.
If they pass our tests, a few will go out sometime within the last two months of this year, and we’ll then be ready to commit to dates. Each unit takes approximately 6-7 hours to build and is carefully hand built and inspected by our team. We’ll deliver the units on a first come first serve basis, as they get approved to ship. With that in mind we estimate the main series production to be delivered in Q1 2016. If you can’t wait until then, please let Nick Fury know so we can adjust our planning.

Q: Why is there a difference between the USD and Euro pricing?
A: Since publishing the price list the euro devalued heavily. We’ll address this with the next price list. For now we recommend converting the USD pricing and applying the current forex rate.

Q: Will the price go up?

A: Yes, although as a thank you for this group and every order on our system, we’ll absorb the increase.

Q: What discount will I get if I am on the list?
A: Well that’s easy, 15%. And that’s a deal you won’t get anywhere else. You’ll be able to purchase through participating resellers or our web store. We’ll contact you when we are ready to commit to fulfillment. When we’ve reached this point, you’ll need to place a deposit of 30%.

Q: When will Revolvr Atom be ready?

A: We made a design change we think is worth the wait. We honestly can’t give you a date; we’ll post monthly updates but expect Q1 to Q2 2016

Yours sincerely,

Team Bright Tangerine

Q2 2016? Not sure why these products were even announced. It's like Blackmagic times 10.

Hoo boy, glad I didn't pre-emptively sell my O-focus back when this topic was posted. In the market for an Atom. Would have been nearly two years of kicking myself, haha! I guess I'll wait it out...

I don't see any prices. I still want the Atom, but there's no guarantee that it will actually ship Q1 2016. It might take longer and people need to work. I think that companies need to be a little less eager to show off new gear and wait until they've ironed out all problems and manufacture. This is the main reason why Red switched strategies and don't show off new gear until it's short before shipping. Otherwise this will go on and on and it doesn't matter if the gear is the best in the world for the lowest price, people will have lost faith in it ever being released.

Making design changes might have been good, but this is what companies do all the time with new versions of their gear. If something is released then during the R&D of the next version you get a lot of feedback from people while figuring out all those new design changes. I might have bought the current design without titanium for the announced price and later buy the next version if it turns out better. But if you are bumping up the price you are in a league where there's more traditional and well known brands of quality.

Gentlemen,

I am happy to let you know that this afternoon I was able to get my hands on the Bright Tangerine "Revolvr". It's late and I am tired, but I wanted to get this post out before I turned in for the night.

Here are some facts:

This unit is not a prototype, nor is it a production model. It is probably best described as "pre-production"
To my knowledge fit and finish and all major elements were "as production"
I have no relationship with Bright Tangerine other than I am a happy owner of a Viv Matte Box
This is the first time anyone has used it outside a trade show and in a proper setup.
The first production units WILL be delivered in/by November. Of this year.

Here are some opinions:

This is a bloody well made piece of kit. It looks extremely nice, is very intuitive (I asked Rob not to tell me how anything worked) and has some nice features without trying to re-invent the wheel (pun intended).

I think everyone who has put an order down for one of these can rest assured they will be receiving something that is of the absolute highest quality. The feel of this unit was superior to my FF5.

Anyone who has questions for me is welcome to ask in this forum or ping me an email directly - James@tee2.tk

I had a pre-order placed for this item, on the strength of what I have seen today I am very happy that I did so.

P.S - The eagle eyed amongst you may also have noticed the head I am using is an O'Connor 2560. Not yet out.... It's very nice too :)
