  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Fun...

The Passion and Dedication from our team is incredible.

I am in NY for the night ( i think its 5am but I am afraid to look at the clock ) and there is so much incredible stuff going on right now that it is impossible to sleep.. and half our team is still up working. It is very true that RED never sleeps.. not because we are insomniacs, but because It really is too exciting...

Really.. someone should interview the fly that sits on our walls inside RED and ask him what a day looks like. Heck.... this is just a sliver of stuff that happened over the last couple of hours...

- Jim ( just when you thought he went to bed) just finished polishing off a new idea.
- Brent was up at 1am going back and forth with the Software team to push live a new EPIC firmware. Thank the stars for Brent. And our Software team.
- Deanan is up ( he is always up ) being a lifeline to a slew of productions and individuals shooting.
- I just got an email from some of our assembly team that are getting ready to start a day that never ended. Ninjas...
- Our rockstar prototype Machinist Dave is still up cutting something I can't wait for you guys to see.
- Kent just solved a problem.
- The web team changed something on RED.COM at 12:30am.
- Our lead Mechanical engineer just sent me some notes.
- Our Security team just checked in.. making sure everyone is safe..

Seriously though.. this was just the last couple hours. After midnight.. on a School night...

We are proud of the RED ONE. We are very proud of EPIC. But nothing comes close to the amount of pride we have for our Incredible Team.

Im so thankful for RED, when im shooting fiction on RED ONE, i know if they weren't around it would likely be a xdcam or other 1080p 2/3rd " in my hands. I look forward immensely to buying EPIC S (or whatever it becomes) and still hold out hope. though im not a fanboy or loyalist to any company when it comes to my buck, I know that when I buy my own camera in the coming year, whatever system i end up buying from whatever brand, would not be there if it wasn't for Jim and the RED TEAM.

Thanks for pushing the industry along!

This is almost eye watering. Makes you want to be part of the team. You guys rock! Keep on rocking!

NYC never sleeps Jarred.

But you have to get a little sleep. :)
thanks for the peek.

The problem is that if someone @RED sleeps too long, he can never catch up with all the new stuff being ready to release...
Just like us. We still keep looking at this forum... Too many stuff to read...

Never forget that Jim and gang love movies and that drives much of their collective passion.

Seems like it may be about the right moment to make your own films Jim.

I think that it's pretty damn cool that you even bother to share your experience, thoughts and ideas here. I've never seen a company communicate like you guys have and think that the guys in the typical corporate BS offices must look at RED and think that maybe following the pack may not be the smartest thing to do after all. The comfort of not saying anything and being politically correct in the corporate world may just leave them in the dust which has proven to be the case. If you don't make dust….you eat dust.

I am having so much fun... the kind of fun where you worry about the Police showing up. Really... it is hard to describe.

It's contagious! I was planning to buy a Scarlet Fixed for a few years, but now I am seriously thinking of getting an Epic-X instead. Even though it costs more money than I have ever spent on any single purchase in my life I can't wait to do it. Your technology will empower a whole new generation of filmmakers. Exciting times.

There is one person who probably won't ever get the credit he deserves for RED when all is said and done... Frederic. I talked to him 1st about this project. He introduced me to Ted and Graeme. He did a lot of the legwork in 2005.

I'd like to tip my hat to Frederic. He is now doing what he loves. So are we. Isn't life grand?

Jim

Life is grand Jim. Thanks for this but you know it's not necessary. You've given me plenty of credit over the years. I am incredibly proud of what you guys have accomplished. Incredibly proud.

Thank You guys for your dedication! There is so much to be said for a company whose team is so excited about who they work with and what they are doing that they can't stop working. After little or no sleep they can't wait to get up the next day and continue. I just love that! That alone says so much about Red and the people behind the scenes. Really exciting, thanks for sharing the details Jared, very inspiring:) BTW Jim you may not see yourself in the same place as Steve, but don't sell yourself short, because you have many of the characteristics that makes you similar as far as what I would consider a visionary leader that has made a significant impact. Truly there are not many people like that on the planet. Thank you, I really mean that, THANK YOU!!

I have never seen so much unbridled Joy pouring out of the RED team.
There is no doubt, something truly Epic has dawned.

I still remember the great thread when you shared some RED history with us ... so your contribution to RED is not forgotten :).

For those who haven't read the post, here's the thread:
http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?4101-Who-are-the-People-at-Red/page2

Oh, by the way:

Steve is on a different level. I'd prefer to never be named in the same sentence.

Jim

It's a different industry. His computers and designs have touched nearly every human being on the planet, since even Windows and Android users are using software largely copied from the Macintosh and iPhone.

But for your much smaller universe of customers you're every bit as important - in fact, probably more so since we have such a tight relationship with our cameras.

And pretty soon almost everyone on earth will have seen a motion picture of some kind created on RED cameras!

Wow. :)

I am having so much fun... the kind of fun where you worry about the Police showing up. Really... it is hard to describe.

This is the single most interesting and challenging thing I could have ever imagined being involved in. Every time I pick up my EPIC, I can hardly believe it. My eyes get the size of golfballs and the feeling is "new" every time I touch it.

The experience here at Reduser is the icing on the cake. This forum is a phenomenon in and of itself. I can't tell you how inspiring it is to have so many support and contribute to what we are doing on a daily basis. This has become my 2nd home.

The people I work with at RED make me so proud. I have seen people rise up and perform beyond all expectations... seemingly 24 hours a day and for years now without rest. Hard to believe. I am in awe.

I really feel like the luckiest guy in the world. I'm not that smart for this to happen without the moon and stars lining up and without a ton of impossible work being done by a truly great group of people...

Thanks to all of you that camp here and push us... and make this so f#¢$ing much fun.

Jim

Happiness is contagious.....

Thank you for that and watch your nerves....
