  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Fujinon 19-90 T2.9 S35 Cine/ENG lens...

The front diameter is 114mm.

Evin, the title of this thread should be adjusted to T2.9, not T2.8.

Then I certainly hope you'll come by the AbelCine booth at NAB. :-D

This sounds interesting...

On a concert shoot I did with Gibby and Champe Barton we used a kludged rig with a scavenged servo grip mounted on an aluminum "L" bracket to drive a stills zoom. Always wanted to try something similar with the RED 18-50 but never did. So glad we are finally seeing the major lens makers respond to the marketplace and make a PL mount zoom with decent coverage and similar ergonomics to B4 lensing!

Cheers - #19

Excellent. It was about time.
Hats off, Fujinon.

Not so sure about the "ENG" part in the title.
:)

Does focus confirm work on PL lenses like this one? I'm getting fond of the little box, let's me concentrate on action.

I don't follow the question. What is focus confirm?

With focus confirm on you get a little box in the frame that is ed when it does not detect hogh frequenc detaail and green when it does.
Might even have a yellow for close. It allows you to "confirm" focus without having an auto focus lens attached.

Oh I see.

Does that interact with i/technology or LDS? Otherwise wouldn't every lens, no matter mount or make, be compatible?

That is the question, whether this is dependent on any information from the lens, or only high frequency detail in the frame.

Any which way, this lens looks amazing.

It's focal length scale is perfect, especailly on Epic 5K (I prefer 18mm FoV on S35mm format as my typical wide wide lens... although 19mm isn't 18mm, the 19mm on Epic 5k will provide a wider FoV.)
It's size is amazing (114mm front and 5.6lbs).
Not to mention servo and macro abilities.

I'm also excited for the new Angie 19.5-95, however it does not have servo capability, and it's over double the weight and the front is 136mm. I'm sure it will have it's advantages, but I'm really interested in LWZ's these days. I like to use primes in any shooting situation that does not require fast and furious run-and-gun atmosphere.

This Fujinon looks like a dream for any shoot that requires a fast, LWZ.

It's great to see some wonderful new zooms hitting the market. I'm hoping at NAB 2013 Cooke might return to zooms... it's their turn!

The Fuji Cabrio does have full LDS & i/Data interactivity.

Which is very cool (having both sets of pins) But whether Red supports it, is another question. See my sig below. :-/

Nuts, I'm coming to NAB to fix my zoom situation. Need something by Mid June.

I make nature docs, but Red has replaced my HDCAM. Shooting still lenses has looked great, but I need a good zoom on some shots. I don't have time or crew to set up multiple motors and power supplies, this servo looks quite perfect. What do you recommend?

This lens breaks new ground in so many areas. Can't afford it but man what a killer concept. I'm really surprised that this is physically possible given the weight of ANY other lens with similar focal length. Seems almost too good to be true. Hope to see more of the same from others.
