  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Frame.IO Launches

Just watched the video. Great app, and perfect timing for me. I will start using this tomorrow on my current project. Great job guys

Can you host finished projects on it and link it to your webbsite? How much can you upload/week? What are the fees?

Thank you for coming on this board to answer questions!

Is the GB storage amount based on full resolution videos or the compressed versions you make?

Based on the originals. We don't count the proxies against your storage.

We have the ability to make branded presentation pages but we don't yet offer the ability to embed in a third party site.

Here's a quick keyboard cheat sheet for everyone as well.

Got it for 1 week now, it is really awesome!

Future is almost here

Footage uploaded to the cloud is where it's all going.

Gonna solve allot of workflow issues.

Only problem I see is when your on location gonna need 4 routers uploading with 4G networks to keep up with footage and even then I don't think it's fast enough.

Times are about to get interesting.

USA needs fiber optics if we want to survive the Digital Era

We have love for the Fox, just didn't have time to get it supported for launch. Coming soon.

Looks absolutely lovely. Hope the support for it will be better than for KataData ;-)

Ha. Hey we made KataData free now but fair point. It was just a fun project. Frame.io is a stand alone company and rest assured will be very well supported and continue to evolve.

Hi Emery. Looks really good! Is this a stand-alone software or is there a central login server facebook-kinda way? Or can you configure it how you like? I mean some clients require high security and every word is under control.

It's a secure hosted solution. The entire Frame.io site uses 256 bit SSL encryption. This is the same level of security banks use to handle your online transactions. Media URLs are authenticated and signed on request to ensure only the appropriate parties can access them. Resources are authenticated at the object level which means each project, file, and even comment needs to be authenticated by a user by ID. Our data centers use state of the art electronic surveillance and multi-factor access control systems. They are staffed 24x7 by trained security guards. We are also looking into MPAA certification.

A simpler aspect of security. Can I assign levels of authority to collaborators? For example, plenty of people I would want to have the ability to use the commenting tools, but leaving the door open to renaming and deleting media etc (ie destructive rather than constructive processes) seems rather fraught...

We currently have two levels of users, team members and collaborators. A team is a group of users that share the same bucket of projects, have access to create new projects under that teams account, and delete stuff. This is usually your internal team. A collaborator is someone you invite into an individual project and they do not have access to any other projects. They can upload and delete their own media but they can not delete anyone else's media. We wanted to start very simple with user permissions so they didn't get confusing but we'll add in some additional layers as we discover where it makes the most sense.
