  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FOOLCONTROL for Iphone @ IBC

I'll buy it for the camera but our Weapon MG has not yet been assigned... so I think I'm going to loose the 20% off until then....

thanks mikael! i bought it out and tried it out at red today, love the racking focus option, very fun.
anyone try this with the GDU lens? it seem to give me a lot of image shift when i focused, very strange.

another question, when someone else was going through setting on the touch screen i would seem to loose camera connection and had to rescan.

Would be great if one can mess around with dummy data without camera.

one of the principal issue with photo lenses used for cinema is the axis / image shift. It is not such an issue for still photography but explains a bit why good cine lenses are expensive.

I should not be related to what happens on touch screen. You probably were in a busy wifi environment with ad hoc on default channel 1... often poor results with that combo.

I know, but unfortunately the app cannot run without a camera to talk to... and if it did it would quickly become awkward without a real camera brain simulator...
 
I have been using Foolcontrol for a while now and it's frankly an awesome system which it makes it quite frustrating when you have connection issues. Here is a few new handy gotchas I have learnt.

For some reason on my Weapon when the Sidekick mode is assigned for the EVF to control the menus I can't connect so simply putting the Sidekick back in control and all is good.
With IOS I find sometimes my phone automatically locking into a known Wifi network that I may have connected to in the past and therefore then I can't connect to the camera. Clear these out of your device and make sure in your phone system settings-Wifi that you are connected to the camera. Oddly and occassionally I have found my phone connected to other people's random devices and I have had to ask them to turn them off?
I prefer to use my IPad for adhoc connection as its larger size means better range and better battery life than my iphone. Also the iPhone is just so easy to loose on a busy set. No matter a phone or a tablet I like to designate a place for it so invest in a stand so it can reside safely in a known place. I usually place it next to my monitor
 
A real camera simulator would be awesome :-)
But I guess this requires re-progamming a separate app.

I think the Wifi system is the limiting factor as it allways try to find a network and you can't lock it to stay with a selected network (stop searching).
 
Mikael, I assume this will upgrade when your new release hits the app store (around NAB I think you said.)

You can use that link Elsie or just do a search for Foolcontrol within the iTunes App Store. Its the only one (besides the $4.99 version) and the discount is there. No coupons or anything special needed.
