  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FOOLCONTROL for Iphone @ IBC

i have been looking for a good iPhone mounting to use for handheld work

found this http://jag35.com/iphoneshooterpro.html

has anyone got a solution?

the dream we be to have something like the redrock micro FF that never happened with good mounting options loaded with fool control :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFS4YCiwKLU

I looked at everything out there I could find ... nothing makes me personally happy.

So ...OFFHOLLYWOOD is making a iPhone 6 and iPhone 6+ case for on set use.

Lanyard, mount to camera, mount to handles, mount to rods, etc. etc. etc. etc.

Say hello to new family member : RS232 foolcontrol.

Direct iPad/iPhone to camera cable to use the iOS app in any area where wifi is not an option like an helicopter, underwater with wire to surface, trade shows, space station and everywhere else !

This one is a special 'case by case' ad hoc distribution model as it simply is not allowed to be distributed via App Store... contact me for details, customized apps and more.

Take my money! (iPhone 6 for me)

This app is making sense in so many ways. Thanks for your efforts Mikael.

One question: Is the focus-ring functioning well with movements towards the centre of the ring? Am I right when I think that smaller circles will give less stress for a single operator focusing with a gimbal and the phone placed just above one of the handles? Smaller circles will give less "resolution" of focus-change but i have a feeling the operator will get very sensitive after some experience with operation. Thx

Thommes

the best is to rotate the white part of the disc with a single finger as you get more precision but it does work a bit toward the center too. I had to set a limit somewhere around 1/3 of the disc (will have to verify the exact value and can eventually change it) to allow for a center button to add marks and avoid movement too close to the center with low precision or cross over to the other side...

You can email me once you've tried it and we'll see how it can be made better for your need in case the default behavior is not perfect.

Thanks for this reply, this sounds very logical. I am sure you have feedback from others too in these respects, but I will repost back onece I have tried my variations out. I am sooo looking forward to this. Good times. T

for gimbal or single operator focus via the app we can discuss better ergonomics and see how it could be adjusted or modfied

Originally was designed to operate more like in this :

iOS intro videos

I will soon be posting some short videos to show the iOS app interface, features and functionalities in detail... but before that I made a quick video to show the various connection options to use foolcontrol with your camera...

sorry this was shot on an iPhone as my camera was busy acting in front of the lens :-)

if you want to receive an email when the app is released, please send a msg to list@foolcolor.net

Hi Mikael, you should not use so much moving background in the video. Its kind of hard to read the text when so much is moving in picture. Will sure read more about this app!

Anyone know if there is an android app in the works?

Sorry if this has been ask!

This is one is just about the several ways you can connect with the camera... A bit boring so wanted it to be fun... Sure is way too fast to read all the fine prints... But you can always pause to check the details... The next videos will be more 'conventional' and will show the app features and various pages in detail...

iOS only.
But it runs on 'cheap' iPod touch if needed which might anyway be a better idea than running it on your regular telephone anyway...

When we started talking about opening up our camera control we were taking a risk, we were banking ( praying ) that people would embrace the protocol and do something sort of cool with it, but we had no idea just how incredible Mikael was and how far he would take it. He is just one guy but he has done a better job than entire armies.

You can meet him in our booth @ IBC, where he is showing his new FOOL CONTROL Iphone app.

You guys need to check it out.. it should be in the apple store early next week. I can't even explain how cool this app is.

Took a bit more time than announced but it is now live :

https://itunes.apple.com/app/foolcontrol/id888231700

If you are on iPad you will find it in the 'iPhone Apps'...

The iOS version is not locked to any camera model or PIN, like the OS X 'universal' license.

Demo videos will be coming shortly as you can't get a trial version on App Store.

(Price will raise a bit in a few weeks when it will be updated with more pages and features, but updates will be free)

Whoops. It just popped up and I downloaded it and started a new thread, didn't see this. Great going Mikael!

Hi Mikael congrats again on an amazing app. Please can you consider doing a gimbal operators interface page for this app. The page would only need the 4 or 5 controls that are most used cleanly layed out for clumsy thumbs. It would be an amazing tool to have attached to the handel bar of the gimbal within easy reach of your thumb.

Nice piece of work. Works beautifully with the camera! I was bit suspicious whether the screen of my iPhone4s is big enough, but all doubts were immediately removed.
