  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Focus....

Can we select an object on the touchscreen, and the camera focuses on it? Perhaps the camera AI even detects/tracks the selected object as we move the camera, and maintains focus. That could change the way we make movies.

Good to see the Scarlet 2/3" in action.

Okay, some ideas to consider:

- presets with different in/out velocity curves to get from focus settings A to B (ease, linear, etc...)
- presets with different in/out forced time interval to get from focus settings A to B
- presets to control both above
- presets to control both with random values (with specified ranges) for both/each above
- ability to draw curves for both above on touch screen

And while you're at it, all the above with specified focus points too (as opposed to AF). Or even more than two focus points?

*i'm sure this is all stuff you guys have all talked about before...just throwing it out there.

For those of us that are curious about tripod needs for the Scarlet Fixed, can you tell us what head and tripod that is? Looks like a Manfrotto but there's a red logo on the front leg, new product?

I think it is a lightweight backpack type Manfrotto. All our big ones are holding up RED ONEs. :-) Not sure we would recommend this type (and size) for real use.

Also the Little Dog looks gorgeous.

His sharp lens can even see a clear fingerprints on the lens of the Big Dog:

The fingerprints of the Big Dog shot by the Little Dog (200% blown up and cropped).

Looking forward to get a Little Dog.

But also would be nice to include Canon FD mount just because some of FD glass are still much better

(better coated, better base glass material, better grinding,...) than the newest EF glass and they are all with manual focus.

Don't forget... we have a RED AF lens program. Our lenses are cinema grade with well controlled breathing. They also will cover FF35. 1st lens is the 24-75mm F2.8. There is a wide zoom and a long zoom to follow.

Focus is manual, one touch on the run-stop button, touchscreen or Pro REDmote. Single or continuous... and tracking. Also... rate control. The system is designed to work with Canon, Nikon and other programs, but will work best with RED lenses. No surprise.

Interesting thing about this photo...it was shot with the pocket camera
and the image is out of focus and grainy as hell...

But that does not matter,it is important what is on that picture.

History shoots future...what a contrast

and tracking.

Can't wait to experience this. It must be a trip.

Will it do that one idea that was thrown around before of being able to click on someone's face and follow it with some sort of pen? It sounds weird, but it might work beautifully if pulled off perfectly. But I guess it could never work how it should since it would need to seek to know where to find focus... but a combination with a Redmote Pro would be sweet for some types of work.
