  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

FLUT Science...

Floating-point Look Up Table?
Merry Christmas!

My theory of why it might be Flexible.

It's a new system that allows you to set the camera metadata according to how you are going to finsih. If you know it's film then you can monitor in REDfilm. If you know it's video then you can monitor in REC 709 or the New REDcolor or REDSpace according to taste.

You can alter gamma space as well.

Flexible LUT to give a look the user needs according to the finish.

None of it is baked in so you can change it after the shoot if you need to.

Nice Flexible LUT system.

Gah! I step away for a few hours with the family and miss a good announcement :-).

It's a good day to be Red! Looking forward to 2010 immeasurably Jim

Everything at RED Day...

Jim

Man Jim. You've got to stop giving us like, 3 months notice for all of these announcements. It's the biggest tease ever. : )

You're giving us all blue balls. (Or RED balls?)

*sigh* back to work.

Oh and Merry Christmas to you and the crew!

P.S. And ISO 2000? This is madness! Awesome awesome madness. You guys are amazing.

Merry Christmas Jim!

Can one build a FLUT "look" and load it to the Epic / Scarlet for an in-camera option?

Thank you and all of the Red team for your great work!

You can't imagine all you can do with EPIC... but you can't do it because we are so fu¢king late I can't stand it. We have so many good things going on that it is hard to maintain... but so many camera building issues that I need medication. Really... this seems like heaven and hell at the same moment in time. Lithium... that's what I need.

Take care of yourself, seriously! Dont get too stressed, we're not going anywhere :cheers2:

I'll bet our competition thinks we are nuts... :-)

Jim

Jim, not only the competition thinks your are nuts, YOU ARE NUTS!! He he, its Christmas day, and here you are posting, and sharing some more great news about whats coming and whats is getting even better, not to mention that I believe that this is the very first time I ever read the camouflaged "F" word in a post of yours, ha ha. you really are a Rock Star!!

But yes all of us can't stand it either with all this delays, even if we got no money, we still want our Epic and Scarlet, just the same..

I have been on email all today and tonight with Jarred, Graeme, Deanan, and Rob working on color science stuff. We are hooked on this program. We are nuts. No question about it. But some of you are here also. What's your excuse?

I was on Reduser both of the days my sons were born... apparently I can't stay away :-). My excuse? Gee...um...

At least no one can accuse us of not being passionate... (a more elegant term for nuts)

Jim

BTW, if the Doc's don't allow me to be at RED Day on February, I'll absolutely make a point to stop by RED HQ's I definitely want and need to see first hand all this good stuff, before you guys continue to pop out so much of it, I wan't be able to keep track of it any more, never mind been able to learned. :~)
