We were sick and tired of lawyer videos shot recently but look like they were shot straight to VHS. So we made this:

https://vimeo.com/247572877

Philmcolor completed in Premiere pro CC and AE with Lumetri.

Gear:
Epic-W
Ronin 2
Sigma Cinema Glass
Shot in 6-8k WS

Looks great. OK, that's out of the way.

Editorially, all I get from this is this guy has a lavish lifestyle. If I were seeking an attorney, his firm is the opposite of what I would be looking for (and I've hired more than a few in my day).
I'd be afraid he'd bill me up the wazoo for every consultation, phone call, paperclip, you name it.

Also, the script isn't as strong as it could be. With a serious edit you may have something but I'd seriously consider a voice over artist, and some new music that's a little less off-the-shelf.
If this sounds harsh to you, I sincerely apologize, but good work is made in the edit, and this needs a few more iterations.

PS- Ditch the Rolex, and Ferrari porn. Please.

Looks great technically but I agree with Mr. Bill Totolo. I would not hire this lawyer. A bit too cocky and cheesy for me. Comes out as self centered. But good looking visuals nevertheless. Cheers.

Looks great.

While I personally wouldn't hire this guy, he also probably would not take me as a client.

I think I see what you're playing into here, and it could be pretty right.

the argument "see how wealthy I am, thus come to me"... yes I can see how that plays with a lot of "wealth is proof" communication that many likely clients would go for.

In all:
Well done and an interesting and many ways honest twist with the whole communication.

Gotta agree,

Visuals look great, not a fan of the story at all.

Looks well made.
Although it may not appeal to most users on this forum, it may very well appeal to his potential clients.
Best way to know is to try it out and see how it converts.

I tend to agree with most of what was already said. Looks good...clean...nice exposure ect. Story....seems pretty narcissistic. I'd def like to see more about the firm and its clients and less about the dude, though one can argue it's his philosophies that drive the firm. I didn't connect with him or the story on any level. The clients to me should be priority... I could care less about his Ferrari and private jet. However all that really matters is if it fits for the potential client base. That's all. If its a success there...then you've won. For most of us that have commented, we are not that client base.

ps. A new VO would help in whichever case. This one is weak.

That was a painful trailer for- America: a glass of red, the class of white, and how we blew the concept of equal justice under the law.

I enjoyed this spot for seeing it as presented: Over the top! His potential clients may perceive this image as exactly what they expect in high stakes representation. Remember good or bad they just want to win. In some cases probably millions of dollars at stake; those whom have an attorney on retainer in $1500hr range have rich people issues. And those issues usually come down to success or failure. It's outside the box and guaranteed to push hot buttons over lifestyle and billable hours, but for myself enjoyable to watch.

We've all seen many ambulance-chasing attorney spots that are painful to watch, but I appreciate effort in trying to tell a story of this lawyer.

That swimming pool resembles University of California at Berkeley which I have filmed several times for features over years. Did he go to Berkeley for undergrad or law school?

Looks fantastic, specially considering "regular" lawyer commercials
But this guy is the embodiment of everything people hates about lawyers.

I hope you charged him accordingly, and then some...

Regarding ipp2
I just realized on monstro when in playback my r3d’s looks wack / not the same as in preview but if I playback baked in prores they look as should.

Whats up with that what am i missing?

Bill,

Thanks for the candid feedback. We totally agree with you on many points and knew when we diverted from the messaging most lawyers use this would likely be the outcome. In the end, we heeded to the client's wishes.

Exactly Gunleik! This is what we were hoping would come across. "I'm wealthy. I'm successful. You want me on your side"

Daniel,

The pool is actually at UCLA. He is part of the Alumni Association there.
