Shooting in Utah this week. Only brought my epic and Schneiders Xenons. Gotta love the 75mm.

Hey Jon

Great shot here, the lens is handling shooting straight into the sun really well. Have you done anything to this image? Also how are the other focal lengths? We are looking for some new glass and the Xenons are on the list to check out.

Thanks for posting

I might actually stop few days in NY on my way to Italy... If I do, I'll let you know and show it to you first hand to try out... :)
I would love to try out the Variable ND. I do a lot of movi stuff and the XENON's and EPIC is a movi match made in heaven.

Only thing I had to do was up the shutter cause I was was mainly thinking of using this for stills. But this is my own personal Kodak 5219 LUT I made that I keep in camera when I shoot.

Below is what we shot yesterday, I didn't use any filters cause I wanted to see how the XENON's handle under lighting and high contrast at wide open. As for post, same 5219 LUT in camera, no CC. I think they preformed well.

As far as price versus performance goes and actually having some nice character these are pretty rad lenses.

Currently there's no better "deal" for cinema glass than the Xenons.

There are however many options out there in similar price points, but a full set of these can do pretty much anything and are good to go for Dragon 6K for those exploring that format.

Phil is that a production model 25, and 100? If so, are you testing it or are them bad boys yours?

3rd time I've tested them. These are "alarmingly close" to production models. We had these at Reduction this week for the attendees to shoot with.

My set is around the corner.

I absolutely agree with this statement Phil... :)

Fact is that I love this glass, despite the Aberration and some Fringing when WO, (more visible on the 35) I just see them as an incredible Glass, were the coating is particularly pleasing, and truly love the rounded Bokeh as well as the mechanics, which surprise me very much to see how great they are for the price, placing anything else in their range so far back, they can't, should't even be compared.

The size, weight, design, speed and mechanical, when put in to consideration with price, just don't make sense, not when you look at prices of other lenses in it's range which absolutely don't come close, and as I said before to get anything remotely better you need to get to "Double/Triple" price point in order to really see a difference, especially on the mechanical and glass side of things.

Meaning, Xenar III (not the original and not even the II) to then the Ultra Primes and Summicron Cine, anything else priced below this are not even floe to be as good in an overall comparison.

And when I say overall, I mean not just one single element, such as Aberration, or Fringing, or Design, or Mechanical, or degree of Focus trow, size, weight, and so on, but a careful analysis of all of this factors which are what make up a LENS.

Has anyone received their's, or heard from Schneider, about the lens cases that were supposed to ship with those who pre-ordered their sets?

Understood, thanks Ketch! I still have them in the original packaging for now. I am trying to hold out until I get my case, but Schneider (from what I've heard) keep pushing out the delivery date...just wanted to know if some people may have had theirs and others were waiting on another batch.

A batch of the cases btw are expected very shortly at Schneider Optics LA... :)

Ketch, thats some good news to come home to after a long day at work...hopefully I'll be one of the few to grab one (ready to get these bad boys on the road :ihih:).

Thanks for the info and enjoy game 4!

i'd love to see more images from these lenses.
