Larger vendors like to have pretty girls at their booths to lure you in and get that badge scanned. However it seemed that with the economic slump the quality of booth "talent" was lacking at the show last year.

...We have done several side by side shootouts with the competition for all these features. They brought a knife to a gun fight.

There are some that are getting incredibly great results from RED (see The Social Network), and some that are getting poor results. If you are getting poor results you have two options.
1. Blame the camera
2. Ask the guys getting good results what they are doing.
If you choose #2, the simplicity of the answer is the shocker.

At this point, I have to ask the obvious question: Who the hell cares?
...Well, you know that the good book says "give stupid icons to the user, and those icons shall be given back unto you..."
the patience to sift through endless fanboy drivel has a huge bearing on a cinematographer's ability to light.
the attentive reader will note I am operating on multiple levels of irony, however, some of you have only been granted clearance to the first.
I've been making images for 20 years and I don't know a thing about marketing. Most of my clients are 10 year plus relationships and my PR campaigns pretty much consist of just going out drinking with them.
I did not know who she was, I googled her, you should now...but don't have anyone younger than 18 by the monitor...(turn safe search off if you want the real deal).
...we have been working hard... or have we been Hardly working...
About EPIC...i think one of the most important lessons from this shot is how easy it is to hand hold this camera and get impressive images without a 20 person crew.
That canyon shot reminds me in so many ways of ( dare I say it?) Kodachrome! Simply gorgeous.
Film isn't dead, it is now digital.:w00t:
"It is better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt".
I love this one.The harder I work the luckier I get.
The EPIC-M8 is mind-boggling. It would be kind of like having a random Verizon flip phone in 2005, and suddenly being handed an iPhone 4. It's kind of like that.
I'm ready to retire my MX!
Speaking of leap in technology:

That one photo pretty much sums up how fast things are moving now with Red.
"The camera is arguably one of the most important of all inventions… it is the single tool that has the ability to stop time, record history, generate art, tell stories, and communicate messages that transcend language like nothing else ever conceived."
A few weeks ago we hired the person responsible for setting up all of Oakley's production. I worked with him for 15 years. He is the best.
RED is no longer a development company. Results should become apparent soon.
.....50% of Jarred's posts are just "heh heh heh". Just sayin'
Any EPIC-X ordered at NAB will be delivered by this summer.
