  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Evidence straight from Apple that they're clearly losing interest in the pro market

The APP store doesn't authorize through iTunes, so it doesn't check for the 5 devices. Also, Apple have a different license for Pro Apps. The Pro license says you can install it on any computer that you as an individual use. This means I can have it on my two Mac Pros and my MBP because I'm the one who will use it, and since only one copy will be used at a time, all is good. The non-pro license is more about putting it on every Mac in the home for family use.

The guys on Mac Break read through the license info during their show when trying to figure out if they needed multiple licences. They did.

Whether they have to use multiple iTunes accounts to accomplish it, or will be able to buy multiple licesnses is another question.

None of this answers whether they plan to support the pro market, just that everything is changing and there will be some speed bumps.

A quote from that thread:

"Just contacted the Business (Commercial) Sales group at Apple via 1-800-MY-APPLE. Although they have been getting plenty of calls on FCX volume licensing, they have no information at present on it's availability or how it would function within the AppStore... I'm looking at 20+ licenses and WILL NOT use separate AppleID's for each of my editors."

If that is factual and timely information, it's odd that they would make it difficult for you to spend your money.

No the right way is to do some research.

An important part of doing research is actually clicking on those links that google produces.

Also important: I already did what that thread says to do.

Is it just me, or is the title of the thread yet another "OMG the sky is falling" knee-jerk reaction that we have quite enough of already? Apple did screw up, and we will hear from them soon. I would be nice to hold all that FUD until we get a response from Apple, just for the sake of general sanity.

Is it just me, or is the title of the thread yet another "OMG the sky is falling" knee-jerk reaction that we have quite enough of already? Apple did make a screw-up, and we will hear from them soon. Could be useful to cut down on the FUD in the meantime, just for the sake of general sanity.

Then why comment further? I also don't see any fear in this thread, just observations. We all know that FCPX has actually changed nothing for those who want to continue editing with what ever they had been.

The title of this thread is actually pretty rational given the events of the past week. I hope we do hear from Apple soon, in the mean time people with interest in this will continue to make observations based on the uncertainly Apple has created and may begin to doubt Apple's pro-apps as a future for them personally. That is all pretty reasonable and a big part of what forum discussions are about.

What is not reasonable: silly flame wars and verbal attacks about opinions.

From what I've heard there is no copy protection with FCP X at all. You can copy it to as many computers as you want with no restrictions. I know a lot of the DSLR crowd are sharing it with friends.

Apple isn't known for its responses... are you sure that we'll hear from them soon? And are you sure the response won't be "Don't hold it that way?"

You guys are hilarious. The whole point of this thread is that I DID hear from Apple. I don't do FUD and knee-jerk reactions. I plan ahead for my future needs and try to get the answers I desire DIRECT FROM THE HORSES MOUTH instead of subscribing to speculative internet posts.

They only want to hear good stuff from Apple, they don't wanna hear bad things or they will dispute that it's real.
