BloodyDisgusting is reporting that fellow Reduser Ruairi Robinson has left the live-action "Akira" project, which is now "dead as a doornail." This is very sad to hear. Ruairi, if you're reading this, could you confirm and/or give us the scoop on what happened?

It would be a cool live action film if they could successfully bring that story into that arena. "Ghost in the Shell" would be sick as well. Granted this is all based on the idea of the director doing it R-rated and not pulling any punches. Just think about what happened with "Aeon Flux". That movie was crap-tacular and the reason why is because they changed too much trying to re-invent the wheel as it were with the story and the design of the characters.

I'll have to check it out one of these days. I also liked "Ninja Scroll".

It's funny. "Ninja Scroll" is one of the major animes I have yet to see. I just grabbed a new copy of it posted the other day at Boxtorrent. There is a new, remastered 6-disc Berserk DVD set out now for like $29 now at Best Buy, Frys, etc. Or there are several torrents out there, with a good English dub. Let know what you think of "Berserk" after you see it, Drew.
