  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Everything you wanted to know about the EPIC Canon Mount

ill put money on it :)

I bet you have one or two really really great reasons or projects right now that you need what you are waiting for right now.

I get about two hundred and fifty emails per day from customers asking the same thing, asking when and if they can jump in line, and each and every one of them all have very long, very touching, and very good reasons for asking.

Every single day.

Trust me.. It sucks.

The only thing that brings us back up in spirit is us knowing it will all be normal soon.

Watching the assembly and manufacturing team grow. Watching them get more efficient, watching them get faster.

Watching more and more CNC machines being delivered to Parker every week.

Watching the purchasing team extend their tentacles into every nook and cranny worldwide to find more and more vendors to assure no shortages of the over 80,000 components we need to build what we make.

Sitting with our mechanical, software and hardware engineers and watching them fix problems in an hour that used to take us a week.

Watching the Bombsquad grow from a single person just before we shipped the first R1 to the small army that is second to none that they have become now.

Watching the shipping department win logistic awards ahead of fortune 500 companies for the way they do what they do.

Watching the team get stronger. better. hungrier.

All of that is what lets us sleep at night.

OK. i changed my mind. Bet is off.

It is probably harder on you... only because you don't get to actually see any of the above and you can't actually see the light at the end of the tunnel like we do.

Trust me my friend.. that light is coming.. and holy shit is it bright.

I like it when you share long winded posts like this... you answer a lot of the those emails in one foul swoop...

Regardless of BACKORDER HELL!!!! I'm just over the moon with the EPICs sensor performance and Playback! . I'm grading a shot as I speak which was shot at least 3 stops under exposed! ...I just sat here for a minute retrieving a useable image... and there it is... We are all so so very lucky.

How do you manage to UNDER-expose an image in bright daylight with an 800ASA sensor :-)

I would love to know that trick.

Having been one of the people who've emailed you and gotten incredible responses I thank you for sticking with it and hammering it day after day.

You guys give us the tools to do what we do and do it better.

ND 1.2... this shot was for nothing... I think the camera assistant just plonked the camera on the ground and shot towards the heli for fun while we flew past.. I doupt he even looked at the aperture or through the lens.. just a sneaky grab.
I don't think we have ever shot an underexposed image since we have owned REDs come to think of it. except in tests!

How much grain was it after relighting the shot? Did you find it acceptable?

I know you guys are really doing the best you can, no doubt! But it still is frustating to watch people receiving scarlets with the al canon mount, while i and many others epic owners ordered a ti canon mount about 2 months before the release of scarlet and still have nothing...:(

Admittedly the same thought went through my head when I saw a shipped Scarlet with a Canon mount, but I'm thinking the mount might have been ordered separately before the November 3 announcement? Either way we should all be caught up by the end of the month. I have $8000 worth of new Canon glass sitting next to my Epic, so once I get my Canon mount it's going to be a good Christmas!

Just received my email from Red UK this morning... I've a got a fashion shoot next monday, would be sick if the mount arrive in time...
