Off topic but how was operating w/o the EVF?
It's interesting and has it's pros and cons.
In broad daylight I'm using a Hoodman sunshade which works nicely, but the extreme contrast of values between daylight and the screen is tricky. An EVF would be very useful in that situation. The 5.0" LCD Touch really shines when you enable focus assist. I've been practicing for several days now and have become "friendly" with that feature and pulling even at very wide apertures is very possible on the touch screen. Did some work last night at f/1.2 and that's tricky to do on any screen.
What I like: The speed and flexibility of having that be my primary screen. Big enough for a monitor, small enough to be almost EVF like. No issue at all on the israeli/noga arm when touching the controls.
What I need to change: A longer LCD to Body cable. I like positioning the camera just a bit further back on my shoulder rig and I know I'll need more cable to get the 5.0" LCD Touch to where I'd like to operate from. Just a bit further out and a bit lower and it's good to go. When I see others staring at the heavens when they operate on shoulder it drives me nuts and I personally can't stand that at all.
I have a SmallHD DP1 that I haven't even plugged into the camera yet that I'm going to experiment with as well in a similar setup. I'm going to have a battery adapter made if that works out so I can use more standard lithium ion units or just run a D-Tap perhaps.
