Jim did respond on another thread, and I agree with you Tim (though your tone is a tad bit on the aggressive side) - while I'm in the Stage 3 boat, I totally understand that Red is already going out on a limb with this Stage 2 update -- pushing for an official Stage 3 update doesn't make sense until Stage 2 is actually IN PROCESS.

Let's continue our patience guys -- Stage 3 is much bigger, more complicated and all we need to know now is that the parts issues that were holding Stage 2 back finally seem to be coming to an end.

There is light at the end of the tunnel for us all

It clearly states this is a STAGE 2 update in the first post on this thread. NO MENTION OF STAGE 3.

Jarred and RED also replied that Stage 3 is after Stage 2. Stage 3 will not even commence until ALL STAGE 2 Cameras are delivered.

SO THERE IS NOTHING TO UPDATE until Stage 2 is delivered.

What else is there to know? Are you guys seriously asking if people who TOOK NO RISK...(Stage 3) get the same generous upgrades as Stage 2 people do?
I don't think so guys, wouldn't be fair to RED. And given RED has not responded, my guess is the question offends them...

This offer was extremely generous and the last thing we need is Stage 3 people clamoring for answers that were already given

Tim, get what you're saying but with all due respect I took a risk nearly 5 years ago. I'm in that Stage 3 group. I'm okay with how RED is handling those of us in that stage, but I can see how people would be a bit curious what kind of options they are going to have compared to the first offering that was put out there by RED. The one with the 2.8" LCD, etc. I'm okay with them getting through Stage 2 first. But if information about the deal comes sooner, that would be great too. But I don't think we have to make it an us/them thing.

I don't really use the Side Handle as much. So I'm glad the rumors of including it in the package instead of other items are not true....

I think Tim is referring to the fact Stage 2 owners placed an actual order and put $5,000 in and have left it there for 17 months.

When Jim and Jarred are ready to talk about what's included in Stage 3 they will.

The belief that they forgot that Stage 3 owners are also anxious for info is a bit strange.

They haven't forgotten, when the info is ready they will give it to you.

Excellent news Jarred, thanks for the update.

Having just half killed myself dragging a Red One up Mt. Etna - and then the bloody thing changed its mind and didn't erupt! - all I can say is, Stage 3 can't come soon enough!

If you're really going to be cranking them out at the rate you expect, I'm guessing/hoping Stage 2 will be done in a few short weeks, and Stage 3 will follow... end September? Early October?

Hear, hear. The whole epic roll out has, despite the best of intentions, caused a string of us/them situations, with stage 2 pitted against the 'M' set, now stage 2 upstaging stage 3 on the risk stakes, and so on and so forth.

My hope is that once the dust has settled, and Red is truly more of a production company rather than development that we can move on from the 'I've supported Red more than you have' discussions, serial number envy, and instead reach the point of: if you want a great camera and you've got the cash, here you go!

So you put a deposit down and that makes you more eligible for a generous upgrade than the rest of us? lol. I've had money sat in my RED Account for a while waiting for the stage-3 upgrade. So no difference to me. When I first ordered my RED ONE I put a deposit down 2 years before I got the camera when people were calling it a scam and we didn't know much but took a leap of faith . Does that me me more eligible now? ;-).

Remember Stage-3 eligibility is now also closed too, and RED made sure people had a deadline for 'getting in'. So us Stage-3 lot are just as eligible for offers as anyone in Stage-2. We were all given the same deadline to be part of it.

While I wouldn't presume to know what RED are thinking, they have always been fair. IMO it would be odd to make the Stage-2 program far more generous than Stage-3 AFTER it's all closed and no-one can change their mind. People made the decisions on their stage-2/3 very carefully after assessing the packages on offer; which were never about the accessories as they were almost identical - it was about trade in or keep the Red One. To change the weighting of the accessories after they have closed reservations does not seem very RED to me.

Stage-3 is a much bigger process and I can understand them not making a statement just yet. There's a lot to work out. But a post like yours does not help the community, it divides it.... It's natural for people to ask how the new changes affect the program.

I agree this has been done to death and I think we should all just drop it and wait for RED to make an announcement whenever they are ready.

All I know is that when I show an amazing edit to a client and they just ask why I haven't finished the credit roll I feel greatly disappointed and dejected. Makes me wonder why I bother trying to do something great.

But I take your point about endless woohoo.

Still, would love to see a thread that had great news, followed by user excitement, followed by nothing at all.

With respect Tim, I disagree. Jarred has emphasized the speed with which RED expect to be able to produce cameras once the needed components are freely available. If they're building an EPIC in 'minutes' it wouldn't surprise me if they're going to get a couple of hundred a day out the door. They could blast through all the Stage 2 orders in a month or so, then it'll be Stage 3.

Given that, as I already posted, I think it's far from unreasonable to expect Stage 3 deliveries to follow hard on the heels of Stage 2; they're not going to complete a Stage 2 production run, then announce they're doing other stuff for a few months before they start a separate Stage 3 production run - they're just going to go hell for leather to make cameras!

I would expect an update on Stage 3, and deposit taking, before Stage 2 even starts to ship. They're acutely aware of past scheduling 'issues' and the need of people to be able to make plans, and that goes both ways; RED need to accurately determine Stage 3 demand too. They'll ask for firm Stage 3 orders and deposits well in advance of the cameras shipping.
