Red, would it be difficult for you guys to keep selling the 320GB drives? I bet you could sell them for $500 if the 640GB are now $900. Just to let you all know, if you were to lower the price on the 320GB, I would buy another in a heartbeat and I'm sure many others would too. Have no real use for 640GB at $900 though but would love a brand new 320GB for less. Options, options, options.

Hey Richard.. our drive cost on the 320GB is roughly the same price as the 640GB... ( hence us not jacking up the price of the 640GB drives) .. and the actual spinning drive cost are probably the most inexpensive part of that whole package. A trip to Newegg.com will show you rough price estimates between the two...

So we could sell the 320GB drives still.. but they would be the same price as the 640GB, which is why we don't :)

I know its kinda odd, as I think some companies would of taken the opportunity to increase price on the 640GB drives artificially to take advantage of the situation, sold the 320GB still for the same price, and made the bean counters happy...

I figured that was probably the case. Thought I'd ask though.

Thanks for staying honest... Do we know yet if the new 640GB drives will work with the new Epics or is the verdict still not out yet?

Absolutely.. there is a module that has the RED DRIVE / RED RAID port on it for use on both Scarlet and Epic.

not a chance (obviously)... RC250 is maximum rate on Epic-X.. you will hafta use a lower RC setting for the current drives and current flash cards.

Still - this is great news that you can still use these drives with the new DSMC Cams.

These are the types of things RED does that no other company even thinks about.

Jarred-

Any idea on the maximum RC settings for the Red-Raids, Red-Rams, cf cards... all currently offered Red media with Epic & Scarlet?

Thanks.
