Brent, please look into this. I logged in fine but still getting the error.

Red must be shaking their heads at some of these questions :)

Sorry, that's what happens when you excite us with the baddest toys on the planet.

We will be clarifying the EU process shortly.
Certainly, the final invoice price for Stage 3 / 3.5 cameras will be in UK Sterling and will include import duty and freight to the UK

Alan.

How much is the Canon aluminum mount? I see it in the store as part of a package, but not on it's own. I think I read these are shipping around the same time as stage-3?

Hi!

I always use my RedOne 70% with Nikon glass.
Stage 3 Exchange program with out Nikon mount means that I can not do my job with my Nikon's.

So,I hope having my EPIC with Nikon mount it would come.
And I would like to know actual delivery time of Nikon mount and estimate price.

Thanks.
Canon mount with a Nikon to Canon mount adaptor? I know it's not so sweet...

Is the import duty calculated for the trade-in price (Stage 3.5, $10,000) or for the full price of an Epic-X ($27,500)?

I assume that if my Stage 3.5 Epic-X arrived from the US, it would (and should) include an invoice for the trade-in price of $10,000 -- since that's what I paid. Finnish customs would use that invoice for calculating import duty.

EU Import duty is calculated on the correct market value of the goods, not a discounted price.

So.... the total I've paid is $27,500 ($17,500 for R1 + $10,000 for trade-in), and yet I'm paying import duty on a total of $45,000 ($17,500 for R1 + $27,500 for Epic-X).

That makes no sense. If I buy an item from eBay US, its import duty is based on the value I paid for it, i.e. the discounted price, and not on the original price. Trade-in via RED Europe would cost an additional $800 (based on 4.8% tax off the top of my head) in import duty compared to importing from the US, provided the camera ships with an invoice listing the trade-in price.

Correct....This happened with me when I had the MX+Red Rocket bundle...I had to pay full import duty on the value of Red Rocket card though I got a discount on it....Futher when you send your items to RED in USA for repairs the invoice is of full value...So if you have an invoice of discounted value during original import then customs creates problem...

You got screwed, my friend. I can't of course know how customs work in your country, but over here in Finland the import tax and VAT are based on the amount I paid for the goods. If the item ships with an invoice listing an original price of $10,000 followed by a 50% discount, I pay import tax and VAT on $5,000. It's not the original price, but the amount of money I sent overseas that matters.

RED is selling Stage III for 28.000 US!

As we know that will include Brain, PL Mount, Monitor, SSD Module, Redmote, Batteries... The package is sold for an discounted price.
We have to pay taxes and import duties for that 28.000 US-Dollars in the EU.

RED does not charge us real 28.000 US Dollars.
They will charge us only 10.500 US in money. We will give RED instead of the missing 17.500 US our RED One.
For the EU we paid 28.000 US-Dollar.

Hopefully Alan will explain us better the deal...

Norbert, one of us is missing the point (and I'm not saying it couldn't be me). My point was that you've already paid tax & import duties on the USD17,500 part of the deal once. If you pay tax and duties for $28,000 now, you're paying tax and duties for the same $17,500 for a second time.

just ordered , epic stage 3.5, i hope it wil come this year !

I highly doubt that brother, since your a stage 3.5 person, that would mean that all stage 3 cameras are shipped with in this year, even if the double the speed up twice then it was till now?
It will not be possible, sorry i m just realistic here.

From Uk Customs gov site :
Custom duties is based on goods category and price paid but Import VAT is based only on price paid.

"The Import VAT percentage rate is applied to the total value of the goods. In the case of goods brought in this is the sterling equivalent of the price paid abroad, as shown on the receipt. In the case of goods posted from outside the EU, it is the amount on the Customs Declaration, which includes the price paid for the goods, the cost of transport, postage and packing, insurance and any duty that may be payable."

Hope we'll get some clear answers soon... right now can't affort VAT and Custom duties on 28 000...

So the best would be, to fly to the US, pick it up there, and flying back right?

Certainly, although you could/would get into trouble if you're picked up for a random inspection at the airport by the customs officers. Not only would you have to pay import tax and VAT, they'd slap on a hefty fine as well.
