EPIC STAGE Clarification and update

Guys, it's been the same thing for almost 2 years now.

Stage 2 is closed. If you put down a $5,000 deposit last year, that was for Stage II. Those cameras have begun to ship.

Stage 3 has not been opened. If you bought a Red One (or completed the official RED ownership transfer process to your name) on or before October 29, 2009, then you are eligible for Stage 3 when it opens.

Stage 4 is for anyone else.

No one knows WTF is going on! Too many people who think they do keep chiming in with erroneous information. There needs to be some kind of official post about the issue and since this seems to be the one PLEASE update the initial post!!!

Also wondering about the wording "EPIC S35" used to describe the brains for stage 3.5 and 4 here. That's supossed to be EPIC-X, right?

I think that was originally the case, but now it appears that the "x" is almost like a model number to help differentiate between the "Epic-M" and "Epic-S"

That was the original designation, but now it seems that x is the standard S35 epic, M is the machined, and S will be the downgraded electronics/cheaper version.

Nothing has changed from what I see.
And if you have or expecting a camera in the very near future IE... a week or so. Not in a few months then I can see how you would want to know what is going on or whats in the pkg now..
But for me in Stage 3 and probably a few months away.....Maybe???? I don't really want to get my panties in a twist over whats in the stage pkg or what camera is it ,or....well you can see where it goes very quickly,,,,, until I have a email from my RED rep that says coin up. Then Ill really want to know what the program is and what it has become before I pay out... But to just add confusion to an all ready too long stage clarification thread seems pointless.

I would think by now most everyone knows if they are in stage 2, 3, 3.5,4 or etc etc etc and if you don't then check with your Bomb Squad...Or what an REDOne, Epic M or what an Epic X is, and that is all that is available at this time from RED

Maybe I'm too uptight for you but it does matter to me if I'm getting an EPIC or a SCARLET when I trade in my RED ONE in Stage 3.5.

Stage 3.5 is the same as Stage 3 except you receive an EPIC-X Brain only and not the complete Stage 3 package.

Very true.

There is so much confusion and misinformation on these boards.

What Red should do is put the current state of play on red.com, not buried somewhere in the middle of thousands of posts on a discussion forum.

Well, since there is only one sensor size on the Epic X right now then I guess I could call it Epic S35 same as I could call it Epic X. I am trying to clarify the confusion posted above.

Would love to know if the Stage 3.5 brain comes with the titanium PL mont since it does come standard with Stage 4.

This will help some of us know what to order ... and what not to order in duplicate.

Aluminum PL mount isn't an option anymore so, yes. 3.5 brain does come with titanium PL mount.

A lot has changed since that post. I am trying to look at all the detail I can to see what is possibly coming on the Scarlet front. I noticed the S35 on the Epic X right away. I think the only Scarlet to even worry about is the Fixed. The Epic S might not even be something to worry about. Jim said something big was coming but isn't going to telegraph his move. ALL stages are Epic X models with S35 written on them. Sorry that I am rude. I don't even have a grip yet. I want a nice smart side handle grip. (Attached to a Scarlet)
