  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC STAGE Clarification and update

And exactly what company can you point to that has better people skills? Do you see many Sony or Canon executives on forums answering their customers questions and concerns? This is just silly.

I have Sony and Canon cameras as well as my Red.

Neither Sony or Canon have ever threatened to sue me if I forward their correspondence to my solicitors.

I do not have to hold my tongue if I want to criticize Sony or Canon, in case I am denied the chance to buy their products because I have "a bad attitude".
Many people will not post on this forum in case they are then refused their Epic.

Ok man.. I hear ya.. But you just saw Jarred's response.. It was right on. And I am guessing you've gotton no threats recently. So perhaps they are trying to improve.

Now this is important, if they are trying to improve this aspect of their company, I would suggest you take this Olive branch here and let's all move forward. After all the whole purpose of the complaint is to effect change right? Well I can see some change, so mission complete. Let's wipe the slate clean and assume everything will be better from this point forward.

Now, on the other hand, if you just keep banging away on this, even after RED stepped up and tried to improve, then your complaints become attacks. And that's a whole different story.. A story in which YOU are the bad guy.

That's no good.

Please don't misunderstand. I agree with you. My post wasn't meant to be a current attack on Red.

It was just to answer Sam Eilertsen's post, which seemed unrealistic.

But the mood in your ending, is the typical mood of this forum and that it tastes a bit 'of bullying and threats. Don't exist the bad guys, is not a western...

I am not a politian and I said what I thought to be the truth. I think a threat would be to state an action based on someone else's. I was describing more of a different state of existance.. Going from being "well intentioned" to possibly "mean spirited".

I think Atony got what he wanted.. To air his frustrations (And he's right, they are felt by many) and to plead for change. He aced it on both counts. But the post above felt to me kind of like he was spiking the ball, and that can working against him.. I was just saying "Hey you did it! Congrads! Now let's move on".

As for reminding me that I am in fact, not livinig in a western, and for reserving the right to fight with those who have a bad attitude.. Uhhh.. Ok.. If you think those things are important, then run with it!

Andrea, may I comment on something that your post infers you are offended by? Apparently you take issue with Jim's tagline "We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone with a bad attitude."

You shouldn't take that personally because I do not believe you have a bad attitude. I think Jim put that up (years ago) when people were coming on this forum and complaining about every little thing. Jim just realized that a company spends an inordinate amount of time dealing with chronically bad apple customers at the expense of serving his reasonable customers. Sometimes a sale to a bad customer is a negative, and thus it is best to just not do business with such a person. It may have happened, but I don't recall any instance of anyone being refused service... especially since RED re-invented itself as a company targeting professionals, or professional wannabees.

If what Meryem said was true, I think there would be a lot less complaining. But the facts are that Red is not saying they are holding up delivery because they are still working out bugs. They are saying that they are holding up production because of parts being too expensive. I don't know how much "too" is, but I'm on record to pay a bit of a premium on Stage 2 to move up delivery on my X. I've suggested this before. In reading so many blogs for all you guys, I'm guessing there are a lot of you who feel the same way. I know that I would not hold such a move against Red if they gave me that option.

Going back to "bugs," if this is the case, then the last thing Red wants to do is release X's before their time. I don't read the Epic M threads much, but I don't recall anything over there complaiing about bugs. If bugs are an issue, I think most of us replying to this thread, with me at the top, would stop complaining. Mr J, are bugs an issue?
 
It's much more complicated than that Tim. I'll be the first to say I do not understand all of the issues, but I have no doubt there are more than we know about.

Sadly, we're just gonna have to wait until RED is really ready, and whatever that entails.

I kind of thought that (parking the issue of unclear criteria for eligibility) the Epic-M was that option. You get your M, you sell your stage 2 reservation, and hey presto! you've paid a premium to get your epic while the parts are still expensive. No?

I'm afraid Antony is right Jeff. There was a thread not long ago where someone complained (And pretty badly) and I believe someone from RED posted in response "way to get to the back of the line". or something to that effect.

While I thought that response was justified at the time, it did spook a lot of people when they realized that this was indeed a possible punishment for shooting your mouth off.

Personally I kind of wish this could be dropped since Antony aired his problems, Jarred responded, and it's over.. Now it's everyone else that's keeping this issue alive by trying to question/discredit the poster. How about we move on.

You know Jim said they may begin shipping late July.... This is in three weeks... Shouldn't we start obsessing about this? :)

Or we could bad-mouth FCPx some more (Sucks Monkey Balls... Line of the year for me... Classic)

In kind confused, "STAGE 3: Trade-in your RED ONE and get EPIC-X Stage 3 package ( NEW R1 ELIGIBILITY CLOSED )". I have a red one #3333 and willing to trade for the epic on stage 3, is that ok or its "CLOSED"? I showed interest in stage 3 listing (as the name of Eduardo Ruis), but that was all. Can someone clarify it to me? Thanks for the attention. Lucas

Stage 3 is still open, as long as you purchased your RED ONE before October 29,2009. They have not begun the process of taking orders on stage 3 yet.

Lucas, did you purchase camera #3333 from Red or did Eduardo Ruis? As Steve pointed out, Red Ones purchased before Oct 29, 2009 are eligible for Stage 3, but in the name of the person who purchased the camera originally... except where ownership had been transferred with Red's blessing.

edit: One more clarification... the camera must not have been executed in Stage 2.:001_smile:

Elsie, the red is not in my name. The owner is Eduardo from the time he bought the camera until now. And it hasn't been executed, so its all right as I expected! Thanks for the informations, it really helped!

I didn't, Jim. Inspired (his company) is very close to mine (I dont rent, I work in post for a production company) so we have a deal on this camera, obviously Im looking forward to play with Epic and got scared when saw "CLOSED". The ownership is his...

Hum got where "buy from Eduardo came from". Didn't want to make you confused, was just shortening the story. Hope Ill have my name on red owners someday, im 21 yo, kind early lol
