EPIC Stage 3

Stab in the dark

Stab in the dark

I imagine that checking out the Red One's traded back in would not be too long a process. A visual inspection then a series of performance tests. Do the buttons work? Do the menus scroll? Does it record? I could go over a camera in 15 minutes to my satisfaction that it was good enough for a shoot. Then it's the unboxing and paperwork overhead. But say 16 cameras a day per person with four guys that's 320 cameras per week. While I pulled all these figures out of my ass it would seem a small team could push through large numbers fairly quickly?

If the Epics are rolling off the line it would seem to make sense to have a team of sufficient size team checking in the Red Ones at the other end. After this first batch Red should have a fairly clear idea of this process.

Hope this is a quick process as this had been the strangest and logest process I have ever been through buying a camera and I have owned two motion picture film cameras and three electronic/digital cameras. Expecting the Epic to be the best camera I have owned.

...we need to get through the first few batches to see if the plan we set up is viable and tweak as needed.

Brent,

How "big" are the batches planned to test the program? 20, 30?

I can only imagine that RED will be so glad when Stage 3 is over and completed. Thank you for Stage 3, BTW.

It is a amazing thing that you are doing for us Stage 3 folks..no better company anywhere..totally amazing..

No to Sim for eval. Only RED EUROPE and RED USA.

Since when do we ever tell how many we make of anything? :)

BC
Fair ;Don't ask don't get :)
Can you spill what are the first batch numbers predicted ? (I know it depends on the number of Reds actually coming to you) , but would love to know your capacity in the next 30 days for the stage 3.
To avoid extra costs, Can we send the Red as RMA ?
Thanks Brent !

Antonio's list is not meant to be an accurate representation of how many signed up, but it very accurately shows how quickly fulfillment goes. Based on delivery date, you can tell exactly where deliveries are at any moment, so if you received your camera in Oct 08, you will see the date approach as the list gets updated.

From Antonio's thread, there looks to be rougly 300 R1's in Stage 3. This number seems a lot smaller than I was thinking. Some people moved up to stage 2, some people never posted their stage number, so this is only a rough estimate of the volunteers. It would be great if someone at RED could give us the correct number in Stage 3.

That number is LOW. Many people have not posted, probably less than half. I'm guessing that stage 3 might be even bigger than stage 2.

According to experience of Stage 2 thread
http://www.reduser.net/forum/showth...ered-EPIC-stage-2-Let-s-try-and-count/page139

we see 435 people in the list of Stage 2 and we know that 1200 Epic-X were delivered for Stage 2. So 1200/435 = 2,75. 2.75 is a coefficient of correlation - difference between people in this Thread Stage2 from real quantity.

So if in this Thread List of Stage 3
http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?55268-EPIC-stage-3-list/page37

we see 253 people so 253 x 2,75 = about 693 people at Stage 3 in real.

Seems almost 7000 cameras qualify for stage 2 or 3. But only 1200 went to 2? That would mean there could be over 4000 cameras go to stage 3, I always though stage 3 was going to be much more enticing.

you guys are going to drive yourselves crazy if you do this to yourselves.. The majority of Stage 3 customers have not posted on Reduser. Trying to make assumptions based off of bad data is a bit of a waste of time ;)

I just did the same calculation on Antonio's thread :) But the highest # I found on the stage 2 thread was 1670 which means closer to 1,000 stage 3's.

Jarred I'm sure you are right. But we have to do something with the excitement ;)

Personally my biggest ambition for stage 3 is... I'm just hoping to see Battle Tested RED ONEs in the store at an impressive discount, then I can have a spare camera :-)
