  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC / SCARLET Firmware 3.3

Great upgrade, loved the tutorial video. Please more of those!

is there any chance to see metric units on the focus distance slot on the redmote at fw 4.0.4? scarlet and epic shows that after setting from imp. to metric :-)

Yes, I noticed this too. It looks like a bug to me. You can't change it to metric...ahhh, Americans ;-)

At least on my Scarlet audio playback seems to be working just fine.

I am having the same problem - no audio through the headphone jack when in playback.

The sound is recorded just fine to the SSD.

Is audio coming out of HDMI or HDSDI? Can you try resetting to factory defaults and checking if the audio is still missing?

What kind of headphone are you using? Headphones with four conductors (like the iPhone headphone with integrated mic) won't work.

Just loaded and noticed that in playback the blue heads up on what button is ready to be pushed (play, forward backwards and 1x, through 16x's)is not working anymore. Can only get it to play in playback on the bottom buttons. The scroll wheel lets me mover around on the time line but thats about it.
And the choice for media clips seems a little jenky.. Had to go back and forth from playback to record and so forth, to get the blue indicated highlighted part to move from load to the clip of choice.

Thanks for the info. We have identified the issue and it will be resolved in the next release.

Hi Trent,

I'm using professional Sony headphones...

I'll try your suggestions - thanks! Will keep you posted.

Now that we have signal out on LCD/EVF, HD-SDI and HDMI (a BIG thank you!!!) , Is there a chance to get a hint if we will ever get to record say RedLogFilm to HD-SDI external device, while we monitor in lcd or evf in say RedColor3? Maybe this is a technical impossibility, I would just like to know. Your efforts are appreciated RedTeam!

Another new build... When will they end?
Why add audio when there are already sound guys on set recording?
Starting to be a waste....

Not all run and gun projects can have a dedicated audio guy due to budget and technicalities... I love to have audio guys, takes the stress out of a lot of things, but sometimes based on the project and budget it can't happen...

Yes, that seemed an odd thing to say! I'm sure most people on here would say "I hope they never end!" That's possibly the strongest point in the whole RED system - free updates of firmware and paid for updates of hardware rather than having to trade the whole camera for the next new toy.

How is the audio in this build? I would really like to start recording to camera for certain low budget projects. Any hiss or pops?
Haven't noticed any hiss or pops.

If you're talking about specifically audio playback, then the obvious answer would be for checking a take on set straight from the camera. Specifically on productions where there isn't the possibility to check the footage off an external recorder or with a redmag reader and a laptop.

If you're talking about audio in general, most editing assistants I know prefer getting scratch audio on camera to no audio on camera.

Pretty happy with the vast improvements in this build.. Audio on Playback... Sweet...
Ok, but we have a slight problem here on video out... HD-SDI out doesn't work... HDMI works fine... We went back to 3.2.19, but now we have the same problem, no video on HD-SDI..
So we've come back to 3.3.3 for now, cause audio on playback was important to us... and we're monitoring on HDMI out for now.
Any suggestions? Any advice?
We've already filed a log on the RED Support page... & awaiting their reply.

Thank you (in advance) for any help/suggestions.

Hi Jeetu!

I know you probably did, but have you tried a "factory default reset"? It usually solves some of these problems. I do one every time I upgrade...

Hope this helps!
