EPIC-S...

Mike,
Have a look at this video:
http://vimeo.com/12355024

I have gone back and forth between which lens set I want for Epic-S. I am a professional photographer and I already own a full Canon L lens set. But the pink tint bothers me. I worry that having to adjust the camera's color settings won't always be consistent, and I would have slight variable color shifts between different lenses. I'd much rather have a lens set that is neutral and consistent. But I have to say the auto-focus with Canon L and Epic looks amazing. Who knows, I will probably change my mind tomorrow.

Hello to you all,

I Have a few questions taht I wouldn`t be posting here if I had found the awnsers elsewhere in the forum (this forum having so many posts doesen`t help either).

I Intend to buy an EPIC soon (still don`t know if I have the budget for the X but at least the S). What I wanna ask, is what are the really essencial acessories I must have for the Epic? I know I must have the monitor, so i`ll not be purshasing the EVF at first, but what about power? Do I have to buy an extra mudule for the new RED bateries? Or does it goes on the RED Handle? And do you guys Know how much this acessories cost?

MY second question is maybe a stupid one, but do you know if when I buy the Epic, do I necessarily hate to get it shipped to me? Or can I just go and pick it up myself?

Thanks a lot!

There's also this old thread I was reading a few months back here:
http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/sony-xdcam-f3-cinealta/492705-ready-shoot-red-epic-vs-f3-cost.html

Not sure how accurate the prices still are, but should give you a very rough estimate.

Will be great to see the rest of the Epic/Scarlet accessories up on the store. Been trying to plan my accessories purchases but it's hard when you don't have the pricing on everything. Really curious to see the final prices/specs on stuff like the Redvolts, touchscreens, Redmotes, etc. Starting out, it looks like you need a good $5k for accessories to get you going. Still, a working S kit for under $20k is awsome!

The faster 50mm ZF has way too much CA wide open. I think that was one of the main reasons why they made the Compact Primes the slower flavor.

I believe the 50mm CP is not the awesome 50 f/2 Macro, but the 50 f/1.4, just with the aperture artificially limited (for the reasons you mention).

Im trying to cost up accessories for EPIC-S too.
what i dont get, is why the EPIC brain only has ability to output for the RED lcd OR evf.. ive looked around and what i gathered that seems to be the case, as far as i can tell neihter are switchable to sdi hdmi etc
Makes me think im going to need to buy a different brand evf just for compatibility sake.

I would love someone to tell me im completely wrong here. it does seem weird.

You're completely wrong.

HDMI and SDI port on the back. HDMI as of recently though wasn't enabled in firmware yet.

Hi Roberto,

My concern on prices is exactly about the itens that are not yet on the store, I figured that maybe Jin could have talked about those itens prizes somewhere in the forum and that`s whay I asked.

Also, about the redvolts, will it be needed an extra module for they to work on the camera? Or they go on the side handle?

Thanks

I thought the touchscreen LCD and BOMB EVF didnt have HDMI and SDI outputs? so I would have to buy a 3rd party SDI or HDMI second monitor option (asside from the perminant addition of the pro I/O module)

Thanks for reply

They dont have HDMI or SDI, the connect via a proprietary connection (cant remember the name of the connection) but the HDMI and SDI outs are on the camera also.

This camera shown in this picture doesn't have HD-SDI port, will the epic-s have one, just like the epic-m now? That would be a dealbreaker.

That looks like the back of a scarlet to me. has there been actual pictures of the epic-s released?

that may be a scarlet because the 360 view of EPIC on the red store shows the SDI clearly. since EPIC-S is now in an EPIC body, i would think the ports would be the same.

Oh I follow, I thought you were saying Epic didn't have HDMI or SDI outputs. Yeah, that's an old pic of the scarlet, but it was the quickest one I could find that actually showed an HDMI port.
