  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC Reservations Begin...

stage 1 has already began ... tattoos and m-x upgrades .. there was just no formal announcement

red did say only a few tattoos would go out .. who knows those 20 or so people may have been very quiet

stage 2 starts now.. lucky guys congrats

Stage 1 is the TATTOO program.

Stage 2 is the one we are reserving for, and it will ship out by Delivery date of your RED ONE camera/s.

Stage 2 is off course before Stage 3 as Stage 2 is after Stage 1 (TATTOO).

So once all reservations for Stage 2 are fulfilled in order of Delivery date of the Red ONes, then Stage 3 will start, and after al Stage 3 reservations have been fulfilled then every one else with Stage 4 can have their Epic (NOT THE EPIC_X).
 
Are we supposed to wait for an email blast ? And when is the full payment supposed to be made ?

No I guess it's about to start. Prototypes are working now and it won't be long until Tattoo starts. Just my guess. If Tattoo was going for a while I'm pretty sure Jim would share some feedback with us.
 
Yes, I agree Tom. I don't know why they wouldn't have announced it, but who knows?
I suspect the official start of stage 1 will be announced at the Reduser party at NAB.
Just a hunch...
 
I'm with Tom... Personally, if stage one were already over, I'd be very very worried. I want to see those Tattoos getting the crap beat out them for a while... AND their accessories.

I want/need this camera 98% perfect out of the gate. While I am thrilled to see Stage Two taking reservations, I don't think it means that the camera development has sped up any more than we thought it was yesterday. However as I read on the site, RED needs to know how many stage two people are out there for planning purposes. Keep in mind this not only tells them how many stage two Epics are going out, but how many RED ONEs will NOT be coming back. For every stage two order, there's a RED staying with someone instead of going back to HQ.

I think a lot of progress has been made, and NAB is the time for excitement.. Jim and team have always been good at this part, but for me.. I'm trying to keep my expectations realistic. I'd like to see an Epic with NEEDED accessories (I.E. monitor, EVF, canon lens mount, REDMote, etc) in my hands this year.

You know ARRI's little side comment about reliabiity was aimed right at RED. RED knows it too. They will have to send a message, and they will do it in how well Epic releases.

That all said.. It's very hard not to get excited.

Currently seeking partners in the Epic-X stage 2 program. If you are in the Los Angeles area and would take advantage of stage 2 but can't afford to do so at this time let's get a contract going! PM or email me!

Looking at the picture of Epic now it looks like you can change the mount one of two way. 1) Remove the 8 torx screws on the mount on put on a PV mount, old Nikon or that A-mount that Allstar came out with. 2) Remove the 4 torx screws on the body and change the mount that way. I'm hoping that this is true so that certain things can make the crossover from the RED One to Epic.
 
No rest for the wicked. Drank a Red Bull, took my son for a walk around the lake and have boatload of PM's and emails to get through...
