  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Last time I brought Lasagna, this time I'll make it much more special!!

This time will be an event at my house dedicated to the entire RED TEAM, a full 5 course Meal Party, well deserved and a pleasure to give you guys, I'm just concerned about Jarred and Ruggeri, oh and Kelly too, that girl can eat.. I'll have to cook triple for them, he he, still remember Kelly coming out from behind the RED tent with her mouth full of Tirami Su' every 10 minutes ha ha.

AFAIK, the Stage bundles are what they are. I cannot remember if we ever stated there could be mix-and-match.

i asked the q here
http://reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=41351

and it would be awesome, almost everyone i know want to have the pro modules.

like kinda of everybody i know uses the 19 mm/15mm bridgeplate, and the basplate from the production package collects dust.

what should happen to all the base i/O modules?

--you could save the time building so much base I/O modules and can go further with the mad scientist stuff...hehe

so much adrenaline, dont know, i have the same ol feelings like ordering the first time.

Hi!

I don´t think you ever did, but it seems like the overall majority of us Epic buyers (reservation holders) wants/needs the pro I/O module, and I have yet to come across anyone asking for the basic one.

So I think I ask on behalf of a lot of us, please please please let us upgrade to a pro I/O module for a fair price.

PS: I do believe the Epic-X programme is very generous any way you look at it! It´s just that I don´t like getting things I don´t need, and I don´t need mini-xlr´s, I´d rather stick with the mini-phono inputs on the brain.

Thank you for listening!

BRENT!

You need to sleep! (You´ve been up for a long time, we need you next week also!)

I know. Buy all the Pro modules available for the Epic that aren't already included, and then buy a Scarlet brain to use all the leftover modules on.

That's my plan anyway.

........
He can always sell his RED ONE MX later for whatever the market is. Does anyone really think a RED ONE MX will sell for $9,000 or less ANYTIME soon?? Packages have been selling for FULL price lately.
...........
Yes Mark, but that's a bit misleading. Packages have been selling for FULL price because they'll allow new customers to get a camera with an earlier serial number than a new one, which they will be able to trade in for an Epic in a few months.

Now, if you choose stage 2, your Red One will be marked as executed, and there won't be that incentive anymore, so I think the price of these cameras will drop massively very quickly.
And once the Scarlet S35 comes out, I wouldn't be surprised if they were sold at half price, or even below that. The Red one has so many downsides compared even to the Scarlet...
If you add the fact that a lot of people will probably be trying to sell their stage 2 executed Red Ones at the same time... I really think executed Red Ones will be pretty hard to sell at a decent price very soon.

I still haven't decided yet with which stage I'll go, but if I choose stage 2 over stage 3, I will do it knowing that I won't get a very high price from my Red One when I sell it.

You are right Eirik. We would need Pro I/O Module with our epic. So why to waste resources on something which will be changed as soon as we take delivery.

Brent, please do consider this. We will be more than happy to pay extra for Pro Module.

Hmmm... I wouldn't be so sure about this. The RED One will still be a viable production tool and will offer some features that Scarlet will not. I will probably sell my RED One at some point after Epic-X is in my hands and I suppose many will do so as well. I guess it depends what the rental market demands around here, my initial plan will be to make the RED One a primary rental system and b-camera / backup-cam to the Epic-X. But as much as I love the RED One, it's going to eventually fade from my usage needs as I pick up more DSMC brains like the 2/3" fixed and future Epic-645.

I'm a bit worried that a lot of people at first may get desperate and dump their RED Ones just after getting Epic-X, just because they need the money. However, that should equalize shortly after, assuming it happens at all. I still think most people who are on the fence financially or who intend to offload the RED One right away would be better served to take the Stage-3 option. At least that way they are guaranteed the value of their RED-One. On the other hand, I have a hard time believing that a well-kept RED One would not sell for more than the price difference between Stage-2 and Stage-3. And I think there will be a demand for some time yet to come, even after Epic-X starts shipping, for M-X upgraded RED One packages -- both to purchase and for rental.

WOW! When does stage 3 start so I can trade in my RED ONE :)

Amazing news guys, agree with you Mark.
See you on REDuser Party
Cheers,

Damn Ketch, its post like these that make me upset I wont be there this year. Although I am in a small island (bequia) in the Caribbean working, I hope you cats have a good one. Haskell there in spirit. :)

Bring on the epic RED, and have happy shooting everyone.

Time to forget about the stages RED has defined for EPIC's delivery... and work towards reaching the stage called "stage i-can-now-buy-an-EPIC"... ;)

My opinion is keep the REDOne, make it MX, get stage 2 EPIC, have 2 cameras, use one as A camera, one as B camera...make movies...from what I understand EPIC and MX will cut fine with each other.

When is the first delivery Jim of EPIC.

I just want to second the comments about the ability to upgrade to the audio pro module. I am over the mini XLR connectors. It will be very frustrating ending up with gear that will just not be used yet again. It would be good to get it right this time.

yes that would be nice, even if we have to pay a bit more for it, what is the use of something we will not use?
Count me in if this option is available
