We are in the process of moving EPIC production from Stage 6 at RED Studios Hollywood to the permanent location in Irvine. There will be a bit of downtime during the move.

We have heard some competitors say that we have only shipped a few EPICs out to "my friends". While it is true that some early RED ONE customers, which also happen to have become my friends, have received EPIC-Ms... but the total number of EPIC-Ms out now is in excess of 250. I think that is half the population of Alexa's. The number shipped EPICs should surpass 500 before NAB.

Wow! Great news. I can't wait for people to eat their hats when they see Epics taking over the industry in the following months.

I had a dream last night that my epic came in the mail and I played with it all day. According to my dream, Epic is very light and takes amazing video. It also has tons of cool features, including hdrx.

250 already out in the wild!!!!!!!

So very cool. Not only the number out, the number expected but that they are being produced, and therefore jobs created, here in the US/California.

Hats off to you and the team for making this piece of mechanical, optical and electronic magic, and being able to jump thru the hoops to do it in California as well!

P.S., is there a website to submit applications for those jobs? :)

Thats a knockout punch....:cheers2:Cheers..

500 will be 'M' versions only or it will include 'X' versions of EPIC also.

Congrats! One step closer! I can't wait!

BTW- does this effect the delivery time of the Epic-X Stage 2 in any way? I'm waiting with baited breath to get my email that my Epic-X is ready ...

Yes, I have had a couple of dreams where I am on the lot at Red studios and talking to Jarred or Jim or some Red staff :001_smile:
Very strange dreams and atmosphere of a magical and yet eerie feeling of what energy exists in the wonder of their work
Seems we really are all in this together..

Great news Jim and Red, and thank you for letting me visit for the Foundry event, there really wasn't an opportunity to say thanks for what open hospitality you all offer at Red studios. Same treatment of friends and complete strangers, Real welcoming people/place

Good to hear things are moving. I cannot wait until they start hitting the streets.

Hi Jim

I'm glad things are continuing to move forward but I'd like to throw one question at you that I'm sure many are wondering.

When do you see the completion of stage 2/start of stage 3 in the timeframe with regard to the mention of "end of summer" for all RED Epic Xs (incl new orders at NAB). I was hoping stage 2 would be complete by late April/early May....is this realistic?

It's information that I'm sure many want to know, but for us impending stage 2s, less than a month out from NAB, I am starting to need at least some concrete information on package details and delivery timeframes. I keep waiting for that announcement (that will come before NAB as promised I am sure) but when I saw this thread title I was hoping that this would indeed be that thread. Unfortunately it is not.

Not having a go at anyone.....at this stage I would be happy with a "in X number of days/weeks we will be in the position to make that announcement" kind of thing.

Thanks - and I do appreciate all that you guys are achieving here and very much look forward to getting an Epic X when the time comes. But honestly it can't come soon enough!

Cheers

Cam

Keep it up Jim - pay no attention to the haters. It's the giant bricks of fear in their undergarments that produce such FUD.
I'll be sitting in the corner in the fetal position rocking back & forth sucking my thumb from now until the Fedex guy arrives with my Epic #329.

congrats Jim, theres much more of us rooting you guys on than the haters. I grew up around assembly lines, my dad runs a helicopter plant in torrance. It must be a great feeling to finally see the product go out after so much work. I was just curious, how many individual parts make up the cameras?
