  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC production...

Very impressive RED team! The Epic locomotive is picking up steam...

I guess I stand corrected. I does seem that paying a premium should come with privileges. I doubt any Epic M buyer will pass on the incredible Epic X offer, expect all M'ers to get X's too.

Jim,

I applied for the Epic M, but didn't hear back. From what i gather there is only 1 epic in the UK?.....most epics are in the states.....maybe that's the vibe your getting with the friends comments.

Jim,

I find it interesting that competitors would say you have just shipped some cameras to a few friends as if it was some personal toy camera.

It is common knowledge that we have been shooting with 15 Epics for five months on a 200 million dollar feature and that Peter Jackson has been shooting with them for some time on Hobbit.

Great Toy my friend,

Peter

I don't believe any of it...it's all VAPORWARE!....There is no such thing as Red cameras or Epics..... :sifone:

Congrats! Patiently waiting for our 2 Epic-x!!!

Great News!

You've already changed so much with the volume of Red One's in the world, now with all of the buzz of Alexa, you're going to have bested them numbers wise before the camera launches to the general public!

As an indie producer keep it up -- you're forcing these aging behemoths to pay attention. And as a dreamer, you're forcing me to dream bigger.

Snip... but the total number of EPIC-Ms out now is in excess of 250. I think that is half the population of Alexa's. The number shipped EPICs should surpass 500 before NAB.

Jim

I know it's dangerous to assume, but that would suggest to me a lot of "production" epic-xs - and I would think that would include sn206 since I doubt if all 205 before that went stage 2 (informal Stage 2 thread shows sn206 at #46 in line)

Nab is less than 30 days away - did I miss an email? Where do we stand?

Most of the EPICs that will ship before NAB will be EPIC-Ms, although some EPIC-X. Do you have an order in for EPIC-M?

Jim

Excellent news Jim!
Will regular Epic production affect production of Epic-M?
I would love to have one even after I receive my Epic-X (well, sooner would be better but we can only ask so much from you.)
I am thinking the M will be my very own RED camera for my own projects and even replace my DSLR) and X will follow the footsteps of my One and be rented out.
For some reasons I may have missed being there for the early days of RED but I wish to be there for every possible step for Epic, no matter what features are enabled.
Does it shoot pictures? Good enough for me.

EDIT: I have emailed Kelly on day one and got the confirmation about being on the list for an Epic-M

Since this pushes back the time table from the previous estimate, does that put Epic-s into 2012? Was end of summer with production for epic-x in February. Not sounds like Epic-X production in April, or May.

I wish I had enough money for an M, but the S is all I can afford. And an X upgrade in stage 3.5. really, really want to shoot epic instead of what I'm shooting on.

Previous estimate was that EPIC-M would start shipping in January. They did.

EPIC-X would start shipping before NAB. They will.

All EPIC-X orders place at NAB (or before with a Stage) will ship by summer's end 2011.

Not sure what has changed.
