  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

EPIC missed spec...

I must be the only one fine with the RED One startup time....

Pretty much.

But ten seconds is fine. I'm more excited to hear that there are working prototypes!

Anything more than 9.865 seconds is a deal-breaker, sorry.

I'M KIDDING! :hurray:

In an effort to get the bad news out as soon as we have it, it looks like we will likely miss (at least) one proposed spec on EPIC/Scarlet. The engineers tell me that a 2 second startup time is now not possible given all the changes/additions to the program. Our current prototypes are starting up in 15 seconds and we think a reasonable target for production cameras is about 10 seconds.

Jim

Oh, yes. Thats the reason why Jim yesterday was so excited that he couldn't sleep :-) Working prototype.

I hope they have working prototypes, but before all you non-engineers get happy, it's possible he's referring to bread board lab prototypes. Not trying to be pessimistic, just realistic. I hope we get a good look at NAB!

Jim, any thought on a suspend mode?

Damn. What other company would be willing to admit they missed a target spec like this- before the product is even shipping? None.

Red, I salute you

it took me more than 15 sec to write this post...hehe.
arent there hotswap battery modules anyway? if not, doesnt matter for me
i started to smoke between battery changes, was a good break, guess i cant do it with 15 sec.

We're all pretty good at keeping the cameras on for 6 hours... if 10 seconds is ever an issue, the worst it'll ever get is just going back to what we're used to already. Of all the specs to miss, this one doesn't hurt.
