Hi All,

I'm very excited to have finally joined the RED community/family. Upon release of the Epic-X Dragon, I quickly snatched one up a few days before this shoot and have absolutely no regrets. This was my first time using an Epic, and the first time powering on this camera. I learned a lot from working with it on this shoot and have realized many things that could've been set differently on the camera after the fact, but I managed. The video is attached, and stills to follow soon after they come back from retouching. This was shot on location in Miami Beach. Enjoy!

Hey Brian. Looks like you nailed the exposure pretty good.

Thanks, Bob! One of the balcony shots was blown out due to the sun peeking back out. In hindsight, I should've shot at higher a higher ISO to preserve more of the background details.

Great stuff Brian! Congrats!

Did you shoot this with natural light only, or did you use modifiers of any soft?

Thanks, Matt! This was shot only with natural light, and I used a small 32" reflector that was more effective as a sun shade/wind blocker than it was a light modifier. :wink5:

Yeah, for a first time out with *any* RED, that's pretty spot on. What glass and ND did you use? STH or LLO OLPF?

So so clean!

Thanks, Tristan!

Thank you, Mike. Up until this point, I've only filmed on DSLRs. This is my first step into the world of digital cinema!

The entire piece was filmed with a Canon 24-70L (first gen) with screw on Tiffen ND filters. STH OLPF for this, but my LLO OLPF is on order (has been for the past 2 months). I have an in-studio fashion shoot coming up in a month, and I'm looking to shoot that with better (cinema) glass and the LLO OLPF.

Really lovely imagery and colours regardless of how many times with a RED - but its also incredible to see what our dragons are capable of with natural light and a reflector.

Looks great! Alan did a great job coloring it.

Thanks, Arthur! Alan did a phenomenal job coloring this piece!

Looks fantastic Brian! Thought I recognized a few buildings in the background.

Thank you, Samir. We were staying in the Fontainebleu for a few days during Art Basel, so we filmed just about everything within the vicinity to keep our room/prep area accessible for makeup/wardrobe changes/etc.

Thanks, Jordan. This is true -- the Dragon truly is an incredible sensor and I'm extremely excited to shoot with it this year!

Hey,

great work there! What's your shutter angle on this shoot, compression?
