I was reading through my Scarlet-X manual this morning and I noticed on page 54-55 it says this:

"FPS Used to select an image capture frame rate that differs from the Project’s TIME BASE frame rate.Ranges are as follows:
• 0.5 to 60fps at 2K • 0.5 to 30fps at 4K/4KHD
• 0.5 to 48fps at 3K • 0.5 to 12fps at 5K
Default is 24 fps (or the selected Project TIME BASE frame rate if not 23.98 or 24.00 fps). 1 sec

translates to 1 second per frame.

Available frame rate is dependent on Resolution and REDcode settings. Refer to RECODE > REDCODEOPTIONS FOR VARIOUS FRAME RATES table."

"When selected a numerical keypad will appear allowing the desired Varispeed Framerate to be enteredin 1 fps increments. Maximum frame rate is a function of RECORD RESOLUTION and REDCODEsettings. Granularity is 0.5 FPS. "

The manuals says 0.5 fps is available at every resolution. However, when we bring up the numeric keypad and enter in 0.5 fps it will not allow it. We also cannot decrease the frame-rate below 1 using the - button.
We are working on some timelapeses and would love to be able to shoot at this framerate!
Is this something that will be added in later firmware? Or am I just doing something wrong?
Thanks!

That's curious. RED also listed 25 fps HDRx in 3K mode (which only has 48 fps as its maximum without HDRx, you would think it would need 50 to sustain HDRx at 25) so I think there are a few framerate related improvements that they have in the works. 0.5 FPS would be pretty useful as well.

I was testing 3.0 , I still can't get lower then 1 fps.

1fps is also very "screen blocky" for some reason ... i mean i expect the updates to be every 1 second, but it seems the screen updates in "chunks" and isn't digitally smooth. When in playback I haven't noticed that problem. Took me awhile to figure out how to black shade at 1 fps, but now I've done it right, and the images are great.

Yeah, I noticed that as well. Was concerned at first, but figured out it's normal and playback is fine.
