OK... I can officially no longer keep up.

This has now become ridiculous.

In the past 7 years, I have sent over 140,000 emails. About 56 a day ( seven days a week) on average. I have received almost 5 times that amount. Do the math. And Jarred gets more than I do...

It is accelerating. If I go offline for one day... I am behind 400 emails.

That means that I officially no longer have a life. I am a slave to emails.

How did this happen?

Please help me out...

Jim

then go here...

Create a whitelist for the people you really want to receive and then have a script select X (X<=10) emails per day randomly to forward to you. You keep up with old friends and needed professionals contacts but still can get fresh input from time to time. Weekends are off.

And put my email on the whitelist. I've only written to you twice in the last 5 years, I'll maintain that rate. :-)

I pride myself in answering every email. Everyone matters. If I go offline for Saturday and Sunday... I welcome over 800 emails when I go back online.

I really do care about everyone and want to answer all emails. It has just gotten to the point where I am buried.

Send and receive messages in bottles from the island instead.

I am No where near you in # of emails but I do get my fare share, If i was you set-up a New Email (Madman@Red.com) then only tell the people that need to know the New one. Have your old one forward you Email from your white-list just in case something important comes in that you need. And make a Post on RU about you not checking your old one!

All my best.

1st that is Great of you to care so much

Get an assistant (or two) who can vet your emails. Have them delegate down all the stuff someone else can handle. Leaving you to manage the good stuff.

It sucks. You want to have that personal touch. Read everyone's emails...with care. We can tell.

But then you don't have a life, and that's not cool either.

Good luck. It's the curse of being good at what you do!

Although I have never sent you an email, it is really awesome to hear how much you care. I'm glad to be a customer of yours! :yesnod:

Do you really want to hear from my assistant? That would be like Sony.

Actually, that would be from an assistant to an assistant... maybe. :-)

I'm absolutely sure you really do care a lot. Too much maybe. But I think it's not possible anymore. Not if you want to do anything else out of your life than reading emails. And keep whatever sanity you've got left :-)

And with whatever is coming up with new products, your customer base will expand by another order of magnitude. You can't keep up. Nobody can maintain a personal relationship with 10s of thousands persons.

Unless you can clone yourself or delegate a pre-screening to an assistant, you won't get out of it.

Please help me out...

Technology apparently makes you a slave to technology. At least when it comes to emails. Luckily they aren't calling you :)

It's admirable that Red is as clear and open through contact here on the forum and other means. Especially when it comes to Jim and Jarred. No other company in this industry provides this service or respect. I think a lot of folks forget that.

Right now you guys are doing a lot of exciting things and much of the email traffic is likely due to rampant speculation on future products and plans. People get very excited about the future apparently.

I'm fucked. But I'm OK. :-)
